thread -- all expressing uncertainties about Fedora installation (in context
of other OS installations).

This is really offtopic, so it doesn't need and probably shouldn't get a
reply, but I've found the best way to get Debian installed to order or
download the single-CDROM Knoppix; it's a repackaged Debian, and once
it's installed you've got a debian desktop system and can install
anything debian-like.
