Yes, I understand what you are telling me but perhaps my responses
have not been clear?
I quit Thunderbird.
I did: gedit
/home/bobg/.thunderbird/1blpa2ks.default/Mail/pop.googlemail.com/msgFilterRules.dat
and deleted the section for centos, saved, checked to see it was gone,
then restarted Thunderbird.
The Centos directory remains!
no gedit, no editing files. You need to use a file manager ( thunar?)
and navigate to:
/home/bobg/.thunderbird/1blpa2ks.default/Mail/pop.googlemail.com/
look for 2 filenames, centos and centos.msf . DELETE THE FILES. then
start thunderbird.
