Is there some danger that somebody malicious from outside can get
access to my databases, since the access is done via a web-browser?
What are the cautions to take?

Is this computer directly connected to the Internet or are you using a
firewall/router appliance?
If directly connected to the Internet...are you running firewall?
'system-config-securitylevel' - make sure that it (Firewall) is on.
