the sad news is it doesn't work (well i configured everything like you
said and the pointer still doesn't move) ;(

Here is the synaptics section from my xorg.conf

Check the ServerLayout Section and make sure you have:
InputDevice "Synaptics" "AlwaysCore"
In the Module section make sure that you have:
Load "synaptics"
