Try:
xprop -id $(xprop -root _NET_SUPPORTING_WM_CHECK | cut -d\# -f2) WM_NAME
as the logged in user. On my XFCE system:
[rick@prophead ~]$ xprop -id $(xprop -root _NET_SUPPORTING_WM_CHECK |
cut -d\# -f2) WM_NAME
WM_NAME(STRING) = "xfwm4"
so I'm running xfwm4.
I'm not a Gnome3 fan in any way, but googling for things, it appears
you must bugger a file. See this:
