On F28, I don't have that problem. If you are an admin, you can run
it directly from the gui without being root.

It wont run as user or root, user has to provide password, either way
the gui is displayed but it fails when Refresh is clicked on while
never providing the expected information..
I was confused running two computers from one keyboard one via ssh, lshw
is failing even without the gui on this F27 box.
