Are you sure? What do you get with
rpm -q gdm
gdm is the default desktop manager with Fedora even if you only install
KDE. What does
cat /etc/sysconfig/desktop
say?

There is no handy backup in /etc/kde/kdm unfortunately. But maybe you
are running gdm and we come at it completely the wrong way.
