Unfortuantely, unless something has changed, Gnome Online Accounts doesn't
support this. (Last I tried, it told me directly that I needed to use my
real account password, not an application password.)
Yeah, that makes little sense to me on the surface. The whole point of
app passwords is for stuff like this while enabling two-step
authentication.
I'll file an RFE as you suggested elsewhere and maybe they'll fix it...
