i have the service running, and i have opened the port 517 in my firewall
configuration
netstat -l shows
udp 0 0 *:talk *:*
mesg y gives the error:
mesg: error: tty device is not owned by group `tty'
how do i configure the tty permissions?
Regards,
Jeetu

Also the tty (terminal) permissions need to permit talk. See the
command "mesg" as in "mesg y" or "mesg n".
The daemon needs to be running, firewall permissions must permit
connections to the talk port and then permissions to the terminal need
to be opened up. i.e. ...Three things....

The standard port is 517
/etc/services:talk 517/udp
See also ntalk on port 518
/etc/services:ntalk 518/udp
