Thanks William. hwbrowser gives only the following:
Selected Device:
Intel Corp. 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 USB
Manufacturer: Unknown
Driver: uhci-hcd
With no mention to the USB version. If I try connecting the camera
anyway, could I break anything?
The version information *is* there, it's just not obvious.
USB 2.0 adapters use EHCI...
Besides, PIIX4 dates back to the Intel 440BX/LX/ZX/DX days, well before
USB2.
But I very much doubt you'd break anything if you tried connecting it.
It should just connect at merely 12 Mbit/s. Whether the camcorder would
send anything over that speed I don't know.
http://www.linux-usb.org/usb2.html says:
You can connect USB 2.0 peripherals to USB 1.1 hosts and hubs, and
they should work just fine ... but at 12 Mbit/sec, not at 480
Mbit/sec.
Hope this helps,
James.
