Just because it's old news is even worse because it means that
people
do not care for their own health, and when shit happens then everyone
running to the doctor to save their asses.
I can bet that hand washing as recommended after poop ain't enough in
the case of handling the toner. Toner consists of microscopic
particles, if you can grasp that meaning.
I think you missed the ironic smiley at the end. As if merely washing
your hands magically solved the problems of handling hazardous
materials... I had to laugh at a spool of 60/40 electronics solder, I
have, that warns you to wash your hands after using it before eating or
smoking. Something tells me that smoking is going to be far worse than
the tiny amount of lead wiped across your fingertips. And I seriously
doubt many people wash their hands well enough to wipe off half the
stuff they get on their fingers at work.
And even if something wasn't directly poisonous material, inhaling it
and clogging up your lungs with it just has to be bad for you.

George Orwell's '1984' was supposed to be a warning against tyranny, not
a set of instructions for supposedly democratic governments.
