have you do a chmod +x on the
appimage file then just ./appimage file
It's been a while since I installed on but it worked just as described.

I would suggest using the appimage from their website at
https://www.xnview.com/en/xnviewmp/#downloads
I haven't tried it on my Fedora 33 but it should work since everything
needed is in the appimage package.
