Well, I'm used to use MySql 4.x so I setup a yum repository at:
yum fedora-pri-testing
http://yum.nopapers.org/fedora/1/testing
Remember to import the signature at:
http://yum.nopapers.org/fedora/1/testing/signature_for_up2date.txt
Basically you need to remove these packages:
perl-DBD-MySQL
php-mysql
then up2date -u if you allready have mysql3.x installed or:
up2date -i mysql mysql-server php-mysql4 perl-DBD-MySQL
and you are set...
I building other packages as well as squirrelmail-1.42 or phpMyAdmin..
You are pleased to use any or all of these rpms.

This would not be easy..

This would be silly since probably 95% of MySQL's use is in conjunction
with PHP..

I am hoping the MySQL come up with a solution.. Some other projects that
I use are already migrating to Postgresql because of the new MySQL
licencing problems.. If that trend catches on MySQL will lose its hold
on the database market very quickly..
I guess MySQL will not notice the problem until its too late.. lets hope
they haven't lost contact with the community..
later..
