Hi,
I have a friend that is using a box I setup for him several years ago with RedHat 7.2. I
think he would really like FC and would like to send him a hard drive with already
installed, as he is not an OS/Hardware guy.
Is it possible for me to install an IDE drive in my machine ( Pentium 486 D ) and load
FC4 on it in a generic enough for that will run on his older, probably Pentium II
machine?
If everything is modular, won't the initrd be incorrect? Can I force the
installation to use a generic IDE driver?
If he's running RHL 7.2 then his system is likely way too underpowered
for Fedora Core. I used to run 7.3 in 128 Mb, but FC3 in 256 Mb is way
too painful.
