it is a quirk of 'mnenhy'.
it is not a problem with thunderbird as it is with firefox
there have been several ways posted in mozilla tsl to correct it. none
of which do i recall.
if you are not on a mozilla email tsl or newsgroup, let me know and i will
post for information on how to correct.
are you using 'mnenhy' in firefox also?

seems that
support.mozilla.com only has a page for firefox and solution
is same for thunderbird as it is for firefox.
have a look at this link and apply same to firefox and thunderbird;

to mess up a linux box, you need to work at it.
to mess up an ms windows box, you just need to *look* at it.

The installation instructions stated to install Windows 2000 or better.
So I installed Linux.
