Big oops: I don't do Thunderbird.
If I to reinstall and that is rarely, I have a backup of all my
files
and configs. The configs are in your home folder but hidden, with a dot
before the file name. You have to enable hidden files from your file
manager. Then you can see them.
That's one of the tweaks I always do right away, yes. But aren't
there individual things in /usr, /bin, /usr/bin, and other such places?
