Unforch Steve, same error:
[root@coyote etc]# mysql -u root mysql -p
Enter password:
ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using
password:
YES)
[root@coyote etc]# mysql -u root mysql -p
Enter password:
ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using
password:
YES)
in each case I entered my root pw at the prompt.
Your root password is not MySQL's root password. However, you can
change that if you choose (or set whatever pw you want). See the
instructions at
http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/recover-mysql-root-password.html (though
there are other methods)
