Hi,
I'm a long-time Linux user and admin, but I don't have much experience
with the newest version of the display server (wayland, right?).
I have a fedora27 desktop and having some display problems with my HD
HomeRun tuner and believe it may be related to the video driver -
video dropout, primarily.
Is there a proprietary AMD/ATI driver for a Radeon HD5770? I believe
the one that's shipped with fedora is called nouveau?
Radeon is an AMD video product (formerly ATI). Nouveau is the open
source driver for nvidia. Completely different companies.
I think the package you want is xorg-x11-drv-ati-7.9.0-3.fc27.x86_64
There is one called drv-amdgpu, but I think that is for the amd cpus
that have video built in.
At least drv-ati is what is on my system for my radeon and works
fine in X. Like you, I'm not very clear on Wayland. Since it doesn't
allow custom keymaps, and I use one, I haven't really explored it.
There used to be a proprietary driver called catalyst. I've never used
it, and don't even know if it still exists.
