Hi Patrick,
Been there, done that.
That is why I first research the computer's chipsets and then make sure
they are fully
supported by Linux before purchase.
Also, I learned that MSI and other have no interest in making sure their
chipsets are supported by Linux.
What is the graphics chipset and model number?
