You have no idea how happy I am that I never needed to mess with that stuff. Still, the
point is well-made: most
programmers don't know how to optimize code because they've always considered RAM
to be an endless resource.
and that is why i consider such developers as idiots
if someone DOES NOT KNOW how to optimize code he has to
learn it and should not call himself a programmer before
IMHO developers should be forced to test their crap on
a older machine with 17" display as also web-developers
should work on servers with mod_bw and 128kbit bandwidth
our machines would be 2-5 times faster these days..........
and yes having a 4 GHz CPU 3 times faster is noticeable
