Evolution sent mail folder for EWS account not updated
by Matthew Saltzman
Evolution (evolution-3.24.4-1.fc26.x86_64, but it has been happening
for a while) shows that I have 3508 messages in my Sent Items folder
for an EWS account, but the message window only shows about 35
messages. The latest is from July 16 and the oldest is from 2016-02-21.
Clicking Send/Receive or Refresh on the Sent Items folder does not seem
to have any effect. The Web interface to the account shows all the
messages.
Has anyone run into this? How can I diagnose the issue? Is there a way
to force a complete re-sync short of deleting the account and
recreating it?
Thanks.

What is causing these hardware errors?
by Sherman Grunewagen
I am getting this block of messages put into /var/log/messages
every few minutes (or seconds) since I received this laptop and
installed F25. The install is updated as of two days ago.
Macine is a new Dell Precision 7520.
What does this mean? Do I have a defective CPU?

Re: [SECURITY] Fedora 25 Update: knot-resolver-1.3.1-1.fc25

Today I received this email, here's the salient portion:

How was that ever accepted as a solution? That kind of approach should
have been rejected.
What next? If some app says they can't get through your firewall, and
that you need to remove your firewall to use the app, would that be
accepted? Or it needed read/write access to the entire filesystem. Or
any number of other anti-security stupidities.
Would that be okay, too, or would the app be told to clean their act up
or go away?
And no, I'm not using knot or knot resolver, but I was appalled to see
that kind of thing in the mailing list of updates.

Re: Fedora 26 update causes crash on boot
by Robert Washbourne
Looks like it was a problem with gdm. Disabling gdm gives the usual console
login and it now works.

Does Gnome ignore xdg-settings?
by Patrick O'Callaghan
I run KDE but use a number of Gnome applications including Evolution.
I'm currently using Opera as my default web browser, but can't get
Evolution to recognise this. Running gnome-control-center offers me a
list of possible browsers but Opera is not one of them and I don't see
where I can add it as an option.
I cannot make head or tail of gsettings (nothing under the evolution-
related schemas says anything about browsers), so I try xdg-settings:
$ xdg-settings get default-web-browser
opera.desktop
Looks fine, right? But clicking on a link in Evolution opens Firefox.
So my question is, if xdg-settings is meant to be the solution to DE
incompatibility issues, why does this not work?

Mysterious error on logging in
by Patrick O'Callaghan
I get regularly (maybe 70% of the time) get this on logging under both
KDE and Gnome:
"Oops, looks like a problem occurred with a component. It was been
reported" (paraphrasing as the message box doesn't allow selection).
Who is telling me this? No idea.
What was the error? Doesn't say.
What component failed? Search me.
Where was it reported? Your guess is as good as mine.
How do I follow it up? The answer must remain a mystery.

qt5 version(s) in f26
by Timothée Floure
Hello,
I thought f26 would bring me qt 5.8 and improve a few things with my
qutebrowser's experience. However, after the update (from f25)
qutebrowser was still using qt 5.7.1 : weird. So I decided to take a
look to the installed version of qt5/qt5-qtwebengine...
5.8.0 for the qt5 meta package, 5.7.1 for qt5-qtbase, and 5.9.1 for
qt5-qtwebengine.
And now I'm lost. Can anyone explain it to me ?

Have you tried logging in under X11 instead of Wayland to see if that makes
any difference. Other applications give that warning and fail to start
under Wayland but work under X11.

Fedora 26 update causes crash on boot
by Robert Washbourne
Fedora 26 worked for a while but after selecting "restart and update" the
laptop now has this behavior (google photos link with vid):
https://photos.app.goo.gl/7lTzF5h09iRDZOzT2
Also, going to a new session with ctrl + alt + F2 and running startx starts
budgie desktop (crashes with gnome, my default) and it appears dbus did not
start from errors like
Method: No such interface 'org.freedesktop.Secret.Collection' on object at
path /org/freedesktop/secrets/collection/login
from launching Chrome.
Any tips?
