installing via VNC over ipv6
by Chris Murphy
This suggests installation using vnc over ipv6 is supported:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Anaconda/Features/Ipv6OnlyInstallation
But when I use inst.vnc boot option, I get an text screen that says to
connect to an ipv4 address, an ipv6 address isn't listed. When I go to
a shell and use 'ip addr' there is a global ipv6 address, but no
formatting for tigervnc I've come up with will connect, it won't
connect:
vncviewer.desktop[12590]: CConn: unable connect to socket:
Invalid argument (22)
If I boot Fedora 23 Server on this same hardware, the 'ip addr'
address can be used successfully to ssh into the server, and also
point a browser to https://[ipv6]:9090 to reach the Cockpit interface
successfully.
root 1744 0.0 0.9 251060 36468 pts/0 Sl+ 03:29 0:00 Xvnc
:1 -depth 16 -br IdleTimeout=0 -auth /dev/null -once
DisconnectClients=false desktop=Fedora rawhide installation on host
10.0.0.15 SecurityTypes=None rfbauth=0
I can't tell if -InTransports needs to explicitly specify ipv6 for it
to work. But at this point I'm stumped and can't tell if it's user
error or a bug. And netstat isn't on non-live media apparently so I
don't have access to that while xvnc is running to see if it's
listening over something other than just an ipv4 address.

smplayer volume control
by Andre Robatino
For a long time now, the smplayer (from RPMFusion) volume control is
vertical, instead of horizontal, with a negligible height, so it's
essentially useless. This is still true with the latest version
smplayer-16.1.0-1.fc23, and even after deleting ~/.config/smplayer. Do all
Fedora users see this, and can it be fixed?

Fedora 23 KDE spin / XEN / virt-manager and vmlinuz-4.3.3-301.fc23.x86_64
by Outback Dingo
So my environment
Fedora 23 KDE spin
XEN-4.5.2 and kernel 4.2.8 booted via EFI where everything works fine using
virt-manager to manage vms under XEN, all is good.
a recent update installed kernel-4.3.3 so i reset the xen efi
configuration, booted got into the desktop no problems. The issue arises
when trying to launch vms from virt-manager, it always throws
a virt-manager viewer connection to hypervisor host got refused or
disconnected.
however, if i go back to using kernel 4.2.8 it all works fine. So there in
lies the question, whats changed that is now preventing virt-manager from
aunching vms properly.
Sorry for the cross post, just trying to find the answer. thanks in advance

searching raid 6 card working with fedora 23
by thibaut noah
Hello, all in the title, i'm sick of loosing hours trying to get hardware
working with super outdated drivers (tech support not helping) so if anyone
knows a raid card compatible with raid 6 AND that will work on fedora 23
please by all means share it.
Price is not relevant, i can go up to 300euros/dollars if needed, i just
want something that works for sure.

I replied to Marco and thought that I automagically replied to the list. I got it to work by manually changing the data with the dates:
2015gfga.dat
--------------------------------
Test Opponents Grulla Opponents
2015/01/03-Edinburg-Vela 0 10
2015/01/06-Zapata 1 0
2015/01/13-Lyford 2 0
2015/01/16-Roma 0 0
2015/01/20-Mercedes 0 3
2015/01/23-Laredo-Nixon 1 2
2015/02/03-Zapata 8 1
2015/02/10-Hidalgo 1 9
2015/02/13-Raymondville 3 1
2015/02/17-Monte-Alto 1 0
2015/02/20-Zapata 0 0
2015/02/26-Hidalgo 0 4
2015/03/06-Raymondville 2 2
2015/03/17-Monte-Alto 6 1
2015/03/26-Port-Isabel 3 0
2015/04/03-Rockport-Fulton 0 7
then modified 2015gfga.plt and added a range
set yrange [0:10]
will fix the graph to what I would like
[olivares@localhost tmp]$ cat 2015gfga.plt
---------------------------------------------------
#set terminal postscript eps color solid
set border linewidth 1.5
set style histogram errorbars linewidth 1.5
set style data histograms
set style fill solid 1 border -1
set ylabel "Goals Scored" font "Helvetica,16"
set xtics border in scale 1,0.5 rotate by -90 nomirror offset character 0, 0, 0
#set xtics border in scale 1,0.5 rotate by -45 nomirror offset character 0, 0, 0
set grid
#set xdata time
#set timefmt "%Y%m%d"
#set xtics ( 'Edinburg Vela' 20150103, 'Zapata' 20150106, 'Lyford' 20150113, 'Roma' 20150116, 'Mercedes' 20150120, 'Laredo Nixon' 20150123, 'Zapata' 20150203, 'Hidalgo' 20150210, 'Raymondville' 20150213, 'Monte Alto' 20150217, 'Zapata' 20150220, 'Hidalgo' 20150227, 'Raymondville' 20150306, 'Monte Alto' 20150317, 'Port Isabel' 20150326, 'Rockport Fulton' 20150403 ) rotate by 90 right
set ytics 1 nomirror
set key top left
#Start of user script
#---------------------
ExtData1 = '2015gfga.dat'
plot '2015gfga.dat' using 3:2:xtic(1) title col lc rgb '#084594', '2015gfga.dat' using 2:3:xtic(1) title col lc rgb '#f6e8c3'
I had in the last line
plot 'ExtData1' using 3:2:xtic(1) title col lc rgb '#084594', '' using 2:3:xtic(1) title col lc rgb '#f6e8c3'
and gnuplot was reporting an error. I modified it to above and removed ExtData1 reference and it worked.
I tried to set the xtics manually and change them according to Marco's reference, but the graph did not refect all the games so I modified the data file and added the date and the opponent and then modified the range to prohibit the line going below and keep everything in quadrant I. If anyone has a nicer way to make the graph look better, or format it using something else please help. I would like for our athletes to see what we need to work on the Goal Differential and not allow too many goals against us.
Best Regards,
Antonio

nvidia-304xx broken with new kernel
by David A. De Graaf
The latest two kernels and the nvidia-304xx module are incompatible.
That is, the nvidia.ko module built by akmod-nvidia-304xx won't load.
That means that my three machines with older nvidia video cards (one
built into the mobo) are stuck running the old
> kernel-4.2.8-300.fc23.x86_64
kernel-4.3.3-300.fc23.x86_64
kernel-4.3.3-301.fc23.x86_64
In the past, incompatibilities were resolved in about a week.
This time, it's nearly a month. No new package of akmod-nvidia-304xx
or kmod-nvidia-304xx has shown up at the
rpmfusion-nonfree-updates[-testing] repo.
The akmod-nvidia-340xx module on another machine that needs it runs fine.
Does anyone have a clue when this older version of the nvidia module
might be fixed?
Here are the error messages with the newer kernel:

dns question??
by bruce
Hi.
Researching dns/naming. (sortof fed!!)
Assume I have a server -rackspace/digitalocean/etc.. And I and I want
to serve the DNS via something like cloudflare.
The test server(s) aren't going to be webservers, they're going to be
used to test apps..
As far as I can tell, most of the sites say you need to already have a
"name" from a domain name provider. That can't be right, can it!! One
can have a dns process internal to an org, providing dns names to
machines all over the place. Granted, those machines/names might be
internal/private.
So, does one need an "actual" real name for an externally facing
server in order to process the DNS so one can do a "ssh test(a)foo.com"
or can you use something like "ssh test(a)foo.example.com"
At the same time.. if you do need a real/actual "domain name" for the
externally facing box, digitalocean provides for both public/private
networks for the linux instances. If you run a private network, would
you then be able to create your own name for the internal instances
that would be available to the other instances on the private
network??
I've tried asking IRC/support forums, etc.. but not getting any progress..
Thanks for helping me get my head around this..
