some people like vanilla ice cream, some like chocolate ice cream,
and some like strawberry ice cream.
some who like all 3 may also like metropolitan ice cream. tho some
who like all 3 do not like metropolitan ice cream.
same goes for email list.
what you need to consider is metropolitan.
as for my taste, i like going to Baskin Robbins, but i do not
order metropolitan. :-)

The larger question is, what is your graphics card and does it support that

Apparmor on Fedora
by Kevin Wilson
Hi,
I saw that there is apparmor support for Ubuntu and for openSuse.
I could not find rpm packages for Fedora.
Is it possible to use Apparmor on Fedora 20 by building
from source code ?

Smartmontools question: reporting drive temperatures
by Philip Prindeville
I’m running smartd (6.2-2) on my SATA drives on my F20 system and I get daily cron messages like:
/dev/twa0 [3ware_disk_03] :
Usage: Temperature_Celsius (194) changed to
120, 121, 120, 121, 120, 119, 118, 117, 118, 119, 120,
which isn’t as useful as generating normalized values. Anyone know how to get smartd to report temperatures in actual degrees celsius?
Thanks,
-Philip

Errors/timeouts on SMTP/S and IMAP/S connections from MacOS clients
by Philip Prindeville
Hi all,
I’m running F20 on my mail server, and using sendmail, mimedefang, spamassassin, and cyrus-imapd. Mimedefang passes messages to spamd via a socket for real-time scanning during the DATA/ in filter_end(). phase. High spam scores cause the message to be bounced (rejected).
Authentication is local based on sasldb2, so network authentication problems aren’t a factor.
Everything was working fine until I recently updated from F19 to F20.
Now I’m seeing timeouts when submitting messages locally (outbound). Local submission is on port 587, and no spamassassin scoring takes place on local submission.
I’m also seeing timeouts when doing IMAP/S copies into local mailboxes from external mailboxes (i.e. served by a non-local IMAP server).
Lastly, I see about 1 in 5 outbound messages fail during the SSL negotiation phase. If I resubmit the message, it usually goes out the 2nd time:

I updated to F20 about the same time that I installed Mavericks (MacOS 10.9) on all of the Apple clients. It’s not clear which triggered the issue.
I’ve updated the SSL fix for MacOS that came out a couple of weeks ago, but this didn’t resolve the issue.
Anyone else having problems with Mail.app MacOS clients talking to a Fedora mail server?
Thanks,
-Philip

Maybe O/T: Cloned dual boot HDD using Clonezilla now XP won't boot
by Gary Stainburn
Hi folks.
I've just had to clone the HDD on my DELL Vostro 1510 laptop. I've replaced
the old 300GB Toshiba drive with a new 1TB Tosh using a doner PC running
Clonezilla. Having the manually fdisk the new drive to select the new
partition sizes was interesting but otherwise a great product.
Everything seems to have copied across okay, with the GRUB loader and my
Fedora 19 system both working fine.
However, despite the NTFS partition appearing to have copied successfully when
I select WinXP to boot, the screen goes black in text mode with the cursor
flashing in the top left corner. There is no HDD activity and nothing
happens.
Can anyone point me to a possible answer. Is it something I need to do to GRUB
or is it XP that has the problem? I think it may be the former as XP doesn't
even seem to start.

Imagemagick not in menus
by Paul Cartwright
I just installed Fedora 20 recently, so I am not that familiar with the
menus. Imagemagick is installed, and from the command-line typing $
display brings it up. When I right-click on a photo imagemagick is not
one of the application items that I can choose from and Imagemagick is
not in the Applications-Graphics menus . If Imagemagick is installed,
why isn't there a menu item for it??
