F19 + Nginx - Passenger module not compiled in?
by Philip Rhoades
People,
I am trying out nginx-1.4.2-1.fc19.x86_64 and have installed:
mod_passenger-3.0.21-4.fc19.x86_64
rubygem-passenger-3.0.21-4.fc19.x86_64
rubygem-passenger-native-3.0.21-4.fc19.x86_64
rubygem-passenger-native-libs-3.0.21-4.fc19.x86_64
rubygem-passenger-devel-3.0.21-4.fc19.x86_64
but when trying to start nginx I get:
nginx: [emerg] unknown directive "passenger_enabled" in
/etc/nginx/nginx.conf:54
- which is apparently indicative of the Passenger module not being
compiled into Nginx - is there an RPM somewhere that does have it
compiled in? - I couldn't find it mentioned anywhere . .
Thanks,
Phil.

3.11.1-200 kernel and nvidia drivers
by Stephen Berg (Contractor)
I'm trying to get the drivers from geforce.com to compile with the
3.11.1-200 kernel and they are just not cooperating. Anyone know of a
patch, tweak, magic enchantment or whatever that will get this done?
I've tried with the NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-319.49 drivers and the beta
NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-325.08 driver. No luck with either.
At the end of /var/log/nvidia-installer.log I see:

Gnome broke for one user
by Stephen Berg (Contractor)
All of a sudden I cannot login to a gnome desktop on a 19 64-bit
system. After logging in all I get is a grey screen. I've tried
hitting Alt-F2 to see if I could start anything, that does no good.
Occasionally when playing around with different F keys the screen will
turn white or start flickering between grey and white. The root user
can login to gnome3 just fine. I tried Gnome classic, no luck. I can
login to KDE with no problems at least so I'm not dead in the water but
I would like to get back to Gnome3.
I've tried moving all the $HOME/.gnome* and $HOME/.gconf* stuff to a
subdirectory so they'll get rebuilt from scratch and it hasn't changed
the behavior. After that I see new .gnome2, .gnome2_private, but no
.gconf or .gconfd directories.
Is there an easier and/or more complete way to blow away my Gnome3
config, get logged in to a default set up so I can rebuild from there?
I hadn't done much to the gnome config so it won't take me long to
rebuild/retweak things.

F18 CUPS 1.5 -> F19 CUPS 1.6 weirdness
by Richard Shaw
After giving up on getting printer discovery to work I decided to directly
add the network printer (shared from my F19 desktop) to my wife's F18
laptop. Initial setup was not a problem but I've had some quirkyness since.
1. In Google Chrome, it locks up either during preview generation or in
trying to print. Printing works in Firefox
2. The client can't modify ANY of the major printer settings like
orientation, paper size, etc.
Ideas?
Thanks,
Richard

I spent the last half hour googling with no success. What does the "b"
mean and how is it controlled?
