Evolution - keeps losing mail filters
by John Horne
Hello,
I'm using evolution 3.8.5 on F19, and for the third time now, in as many
days, it has suddenly 'lost' all my incoming mail filters. I have no
idea why it happens, all I see is a yellow banner saying:
Mail filters automatically updated.
The filter rule "Xymon" has been modified to account for the deleted
folder "Xymon".
The folder name (here 'Xymon') changes for each of the filters I have.
The filters actually still exist, but they now do nothing. They
previously all moved mail into various folders, and it is the location
of those folders that has been removed from the filters.
My mail is still all present, and the folders exist. I can read new mail
in the folders so I do not know why it thinks they are deleted.
I can, of course, add the filters back in, but I have 20 or so filters
so it takes a bit of time.
I have been using evolution with no problems since upgrading to F19 a
couple of months ago. As said, this has only just started happening.
Has anyone else seen this recently?
Thanks,
John.

trying to do a simple/redirect curl
by bruce
Hi.
Trying to get curl (or wget) to work on the following.
curl -A "User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US;
rv:1.9.2.12) Gecko/20101026 Firefox/3.6.12" -L
"https://webapp4.asu.edu/catalog/classlist?s=AST&t=2137&e=all&hon=F"
>>> response :::: curl: (47) SSL read: errno -5961
I 've tried a couple of diff browsers (FF/Opera) running without
cookies/javascript and the browser eventually returns the data.
can't seem to figure out what I'm missing from the curl though.
thoughts/comments?

fedup
by Richard Vickery
I'm doing another install because I lost access to the computer while
attempting to find the mouse touchpad - another issue that I want to
solve - and find that F19 doesn't ship with fedup; why not? It's so
useful.

how to start scanner as mortal user
by Ranjan Maitra
Hello,
I have an old HP PSC2410 scanner/fax/printer which I have managed to get
started all right upon installing hplip hpijs libsane-hpaio hplip-libs
hplip-common (some may be superfluous) and using the text-based
interactive setup. I also installed xsane.
I am most interested in the scanner: I managed to get this working
just fine, but only under root (sudo xsane). Is there a way to get this
started as a mortal user (little me)?
Many thanks,
Ranjan

Suspension problem last 2 days
by Timothy Murphy
I've been having a problem on my Thinkpad T61 for the last 2 days.
In fact since "yum update" installed kernel-PAE-3.11.1-200.fc19.i686,
though that is probably a coincidence.
The problem is that when the laptop lid is closed and then opened later
the machine is in a confused state.
For example it is impossible to shutdown the machine
except by pressing the power button for 10 seconds.
I just wondered if anyone else has had similar symptoms recently?
These are some of the entries in /var/log/messages following "Lid opened":

old disk in new system
by Randolph Jones
| From: Randolph Jones <jonesrf1 at qwest.net>
| I have 1tb disk with bootable fc14 installed as second disk in new box
| with fc19 xfce spin installed in 320gb disk.
Sounds reasonable.
Did you shut down the fc14 system cleanly last time you booted?
Perhaps an fsck is needed.
| fc19 sees the old disk and mounts as nonblock device.
Can you explain further? Normally only block devices can be mounted.
| I want to convert the 1tb disk so I can use the data from fc19
It should not be a problem, according to my understanding of the
world. My understanding is incomplete: I don't deeply understand
SELinux labelling. Do you think that this is an SELinux issue?
| is there any way to mount this disk without losing all the data?
Surely.
fc19 shows the partitions of the 1tb disk on the desktop as removable
media not mounted or named; ie 500mb removable disk
if I rightclick and mount they are mounted as below
cgroup on /sys/fs/cgroup/freezer type cgroup
(rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime,freezer)
cgroup on /sys/fs/cgroup/net_cls type cgroup
(rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime,net_cls)
cgroup on /sys/fs/cgroup/blkio type cgroup
(rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime,blkio)
cgroup on /sys/fs/cgroup/perf_event type cgroup
(rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime,perf_event)
/dev/mapper/fedora00-root on / type ext4
(rw,relatime,seclabel,data=ordered)
systemd-1 on /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc type autofs
(rw,relatime,fd=32,pgrp=1,timeout=300,minproto=5,maxproto=5,direct)
debugfs on /sys/kernel/debug type debugfs (rw,relatime)
hugetlbfs on /dev/hugepages type hugetlbfs (rw,relatime, seclabel)
mqueue on /dev/mqueue type mqueue (rw,relatime, seclabel)
tmpfs on /tmp type tmpfs (rw,seclabel)
configfs on /sys/kernel/config type configfs (rw,relatime)
/dev/sdb2 on /boot type ext4 (rw,relatime,seclabel,data=ordered)
/dev/mapper/fedora00-home on /home type ext4
(rw,relatime,seclabel,data=ordered)
/dev/sda1 on /run/media/rfj/36fe5fa0-e80c-401a-9a44-2c6edec4ef89 type
ext4 (rw,nosuid,nodev,relatime,seclabel,data=ordered,uhelper=udisks2)
/dev/sda2 on /run/media/rfj/bdc68d9a-27d2-409e-9d85-f5c558690acf type
ext4 (rw,nosuid,nodev,relatime,seclabel,data=ordered,uhelper=udisks2)
/dev/sda5 on /run/media/rfj/ce61b18b-b6f8-4996-8aa8-43d71cc2f0f8 type
ext4 (rw,nosuid,nodev,relatime,seclabel,data=ordered,uhelper=udisks2)
sdb2 is my 300gb fc19 boot disk
sda is 1tb fc14 boot disk
I cant really use the 1tb data even after mounting as above
cant mount the individual partitions under fc19; I get not block device

In checking my logs I have noticed there have not been any updates to
Fedora 19
since October 12th. Or am I experiencing some sort of problem ?
Thanks
