ISSUES WITH FAKERAID
by Shaun Rioux
Hi,
I want to start by saying, I hope im in the right place, if not, I
appologize. I just installed Fedora 14 to a single HDD, and its working
fine.
I am now attempting to mount a silicon 3124 based fakeraid RAID 5 array to
this system, however I keep getting wrong number of disks in array (4/0),
and later it says inconsistent. Is this just not supported by fedora 14, or
am I missing something?

OT: Free mumble (voice chat) server for the foss gaming community of tomorrow
by Rudolf Kastl
Heyyas,
Actually http://clan-speak.de/ offers free mumble servers without any
requirements. After subscribing for a free server from today on they
instantly activate them. Sorry for the offtopic post but this is a
great service. Mumble is actually packaged in fedora and i thought
this might be quite interesting for the foss gaming community. Have
fun with your own low latency voice server.
kind regards,
Rudolf Kastl
p.s. i am not involved in hosting but merely got a server with them
for free since about 6 months.

Libre Office on F14x64?
by Christopher A Williams
I'm picking up "chatter" that Libre Office as downloaded from their
community site will install side-by-side the existing OOo install on F14
(and other distros as well). Anyone have experience with this they'd
like to share? Does it actually work?
I'm interested in trying, but don't really have time to rebuild my
system if this actually doesn't work as advertised...
Cheers,
Chris

Fwd: Re: [Fedora] Re: FC14 Installation Hangs
by Ashley M. Kirchner
I'm guessing no one has an answer as to why FC14 install hangs at
the 'waiting for hardware to initialize' while I can install CentOS with
no problems what so ever? Or what to do to try and get FC14 installed
(tried the standard ide=nodma noapic acpi=off options already). Below
are the output of dmesg and lspci as JB previously requested.

That I can do. In the interest of not spamming the list with them,
I've put them on the web:
http://www.yeehaw.net/dmesg.txt
http://www.yeehaw.net/lspci.txt
Hopefully someone can make something out of them and tell me how to
get FC14 to work ...

google calendar in evolution 2.32
by Gianluca Cecchi
Hello,
as I had some problems before in getting calendar sync between
evolution and gmail account, but it seems it works now in F14 I would
like to share.
I also would like to share some problems and questions
On an Ubuntu post
(https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GoogleCalendarWithEvolution) I read
that I could go in 3 different modes:
CalDav, Google and On the web
The first one should be the preferred way (correct?), so I configured
it this way, after starting from console to intercept errors:
1) In URL I set: caldav://www.google.com/calendar/dav/[my gmail
account]/events/ (and not https:// as in link above)
2) I check SSL
3) In username field I put my e-mail address
4) I press ok and I type the password as requested (I didn't check
remember password)
OK --> I see inside evolution calendar page some events I previously
already have for today in gmail calendar
I only have one gmail calendar, otherwise instead of [my gmail
account] one should put the id for the calendars he/she wants
Then I edit this calendar and check both:
a) set as default --> ok
b) copy calendar locallly for offline operations --> it seems ok in
the sense that I don't get errors, but if I edit again I see that the
checkbox is not marked... ??
no particular message at console prompt
restarting evolution from console I get:
e-data-server-ui-Message: Unable to find password(s) in keyring
(Keyring reports: No matching results)
e-data-server-ui-Message: Key file does not have group 'Passwords-Calendar'
e-data-server-ui-Message: Unable to find password(s) in keyring
(Keyring reports: No matching results)
e-data-server-ui-Message: Key file does not have group 'Passwords-Calendar'
and I'm asked for gmail password. After typing it all goes well (the
"copy calendar locally.." option is not checked btw)
What are the effects of checking "remember password"? Is it associated
with keyring (and eventually put in ~/.gnome2/keyrings/..) or is it
stored inside an evolution folder
(such as ~/.local/share/evolution) or anything else? Is it encrypted?
What are the effects of setting calendar as default if I'm not
connected to the internet?
Can I set System --> Preferences --> Network Proxy for a location
where I have a connection with a proxy and so being able to connect to
my calendar?
Is it caldav forwarded to http ports..?
And last:
I have an imap account set up for an exchange server.
Is it correct to say that if I receive an invitation from exchange
account on my imap configured e-mail and I accept it I should get it
also in my evolution calendar, so both in evolution and gmail, due to
the sync in place? Or the imap account inherits a particular calendar
different from default?
Thanks again for sharing your experience with evolution.
I was using kmail but I'm seeing that first time now (I skipped some
Fedora versions for testing it ... probably latest one was F11)
evolution seems to fit my needs... ;-)

I do not know if this kernel parameter may help you in your extended-debugging
situation (further slowdown of a booting process ...):
boot_delay= Milliseconds to delay each printk during boot.
Values larger than 10 seconds (10000) are changed to
no delay (0).
Format: integer
e.g. boot_delay=1000
It may need to be adjusted by trial and error.

USB Serial Port
by mike
This may be easy for some but, all of my Linux experience has been on
servers and I am just now trying to move into the desktop side.
I am trying to use a USB to Serial adapter by Belkin for a needed
application at work. I plan on using PuTTy as my comm plaform but, I
cannot figure out what port id the device is being given or if I need to
configure it in some manner.
Anyone know a simple way or the correct place to look for info about
this on the Web?
