I successfully waited a repo.

no audio, crappy video
by Michael Hennebry
I haven't had audio since installing Fedora 13.
It's possible that the problem is that I didn't have the speakers
plugged in when doing the install.
How do I make them work?
For a while there was a speaker icon on my KDE taskbar.
I tried to use it, but no go.
It's gone now. Don't know why.
I installed a flash plugin according
to the recommendations at fedorafaq.
Video is really jerky. About a frame per second.
How do I make it work?
>From xorg.conf:
Identifier "Card0"
Driver "radeon"
VendorName "ATI Technologies Inc"
BoardName "Mobility Radeon HD 3600 Series"
BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
When not playing flash, top tells me
that the load averages are less than 0.2 .
I go through stuff like this whenever I do an install.
By the time I get stuff working,
I'm too frazzled to remember what I did,
so it's the same song, same verse next time.

yumex error; need f11 files for f12
by g
while trying to update f12 using yumex 2.9.7, i am getting error messages
that i need f11 packages for dependency.
i have gone thru complete lists of update packages checking 'dependency'
lines when these messages show up and i see nothing requiring packages
from f11.
i am using fedora 'everything' and 'updates' only. i do not have 'testing'
or 'rawhide' repos enabled.
error message is;
+++
03:47:42 : ERROR: Error in yum Transaction : \
[u'ERROR with rpm_check_debug vs depsolve:', \
'qt = 1:4.5.0-14.fc11 is needed by (installed)
qt-mysql-1:4.5.0-14.fc11.i586', \
u'Please report this error at http://yum.baseurl.org/report']
+++
when i get this error, none of the updates are installed.
running 'yum clean all' as a last resort, does not help.
google for 'please report' line shows nothing to cure or help.
is there a way to find out what packages are causing this error?
how do/can i enable yum/yumex to build their own log file?
from what i have seen of problems with f13, it is not an option.
if i am going to have bugs and other problems, i would rather wait
for f14 release. :)
thanks for any help.

SELinux and HTTP Error
by Richard Heck
Anyone help me with this? I get this error every time httpd starts. This
is still F12, but up to date.
The info isn't that helpful, as I don't have user directories enabled in
httpd.conf anyway.
Thanks,
Richard
Summary:
SELinux is preventing /usr/sbin/httpd "search" access on /root/.local.
Detailed Description:
[SELinux is in permissive mode. This access was not denied.]
SELinux denied access requested by httpd. The current boolean settings
do not
allow this access. If you have not setup httpd to require this access
this may
signal an intrusion attempt. If you do intend this access you need to
change the
booleans on this system to allow the access.
Allowing Access:
Confined processes can be configured to run requiring different access,
SELinux
provides booleans to allow you to turn on/off access as needed. The boolean
httpd_enable_homedirs is set incorrectly.
Boolean Description:
Allow httpd to read home directories
Fix Command:
# setsebool -P httpd_enable_homedirs 1

Liberation or Corefonts?
by Alex
Hi,
I'm trying to find some better fonts for my monitor/video card
combination. Are the liberation fonts the same as the corefonts, found
at http://corefonts.sourceforge.net/? It seems it is geared towards an
older fedora release, as it references chkfontpath, which no longer
exists.
I have the liberation fonts already installed:
# rpm -qva|grep -i liberation
liberation-serif-fonts-1.06.0.20100721-1.fc13.noarch
liberation-sans-fonts-1.06.0.20100721-1.fc13.noarch
liberation-fonts-common-1.06.0.20100721-1.fc13.noarch
liberation-mono-fonts-1.06.0.20100721-1.fc13.noarch
Are they a substitute for the Microsoft fonts?
My fonts, as I currently have them installed at least, are blurry and
not very well-defined. I've tried to change the appearance of them in
System->Pref->Fonts, but they still just don't look right in all
applications.
Thanks,
Alex

Can't connect DD-WRT Router to Comcast
by Mickey
FC13 / KDE-4
I cannot get a Linksys WRT54G with DD-WRT or a Linksys WRT160N to
connect to a Arris TM602G/CT Modem.
1. I have called Comcast and they swear that the connection is not
registered to my PC MAC address.
2. I cloned the PC mac address in my DD-WRT/Router.
3. I have pulled the battery out of the Cable Modem , reset,
disconnected power cord and ethernet cable and wait 1 minute before
plugging modem back in.
And put in ethernet cable and powered modem back up.
4. I then powered up the Router and reset it and I get no WAN IP
addresses in router.
PC connects to router and I can login to router and check settings,
No WAN Ip's in router.
I also Cloned the PC Mac address in Router .
5. I know for sure that the WRT54G is working because I have already had
it connect to this Modem, but I had to move everything to a different room.
6. I know the Ethernet Cable is okay because, I can remove it from
router and plug it directly into PC, and reboot PC and I have a Internet
Connection, without having to pull the power plug on Modem
The ethernet cable is 25 ft. long because the Modem is up stairs
and I can't relocate it , but that should not be a problem.

Fedora Version 12.0 server - automatic restart
by Srinivasan
Hi,
We have installaed Fedora 12.0 server version. When it is running, suddenly
it gets on to the restart mode and shows the login screen for us to login.
Once logged in all the processes, and the gateway gets opened up for us to
access through the net. How do we avoid the restarting of the system,
automatically. Please advice
Thanks

Hi all,
I was trying to run virt manager as non-root user, and wanted to set
that org.libvirt.unix.manage Setting in PolicyKit.conf, but that file
does not exist in f13.
Has anyone any idea how to do the Policykit configuration without that
policykit conf file?
thanks,
Christoph
