Setting gnome-terminal size
by Jonathan Ryshpan
How can I get gnome-terminal to always start with size 90x30? It's easy
enough to make this happen when it's started from an icon, etc. just
invoke it with something like "gnome-terminal --geometry=90x30". But
when I create a second terminal using:
Rt-click (anywhere in the terminal)->Open Terminal
the terminal created is always 80x24. Kterm provides such an option,
but isn't fully compatible with the gnome desktop. Is gnome-terminal
missing an option like this, or have I missed something?
Thanks - jon

Setting default pdf reader Fedora13
by davidapr@gmail.com
Hello Friends.
I have a probably little dumb question, before fedora i used debian and
ubuntu, now, in fedora i have installed acrobat reader and evince(default)
but my default now is adobe reader, i want evince as my default pdf reader,
how can i set evince as default in command line? because with right click,
and set as default using gnome, doesnt work for me... in the other distro a
used update-alternatives script, in fedora what can i do?
Thanks guys.

Sound server gone - Solved
by Mike McCarty
Well, I had a motherboard toast the built in video interface,
though the machine otherwise seemed to work ok. I pulled out
the discs, and stuck them into a spare box I had lying around,
and pulled the other interesting peripherals, like the CD-ROM
and DVD-ROM drives, etc, and rebooted. After some chit chat with
kudzu, the machine came up, and everything worked. Except the
built in sound peripheral on the motherboard. Now, this is odd
because it's just an ordinary '97 style chip.
After some significant period trying to get this to work, I
tried the GNOME SystemSettings->Soundcard Detection and
that found and made it work. That's very odd, since the
hardware was previously detected, and showed up in the
BrowseHardware.
Anyway, after fiddling for months, a simple click has made
my sound, like the cat, come back.

USB to parallel port printer adapter does not work anymore. (F13)
by Mick M.
Hi;
I have two of these which worked fine in older releases
[root@localhost ~]# lsusb
Bus 005 Device 002: ID 04b8:0002 Seiko Epson Corp. ISD Smart Cable for Mac
[root@localhost ~]# lsusb
Bus 005 Device 003: ID 05ab:0002 In-System Design Parallel Port
I downloaded kernel 2.6.34 from kernel.org.
I cannot find the checkbox in 'make xconfig'
Has support for these been removed?
I have an HP lasejet 3p which is now a room-warmer/paperweight.
Any help appreciated.

Network crash in F13
by Clodoaldo Neto
Whenever a heavy nfs4 file copy or internet file download is done
connectivity is lost and restarting NetworkManager does not fix it.
Only a reboot fixes it.

Turning the touchpad off
by Timothy Murphy
I have
/usr/bin/synclient TouchpadOff=1
in /etc/rc.d/rc.local .
Unfortunately this does not work,
presumably because it runs too early,
before X starts.
(The command works if given after Fedora is running.)
Is there somewhere I can put this script,
or do I have to create xorg.conf ?
