by linux guy
Has anyone tried using F11 on an HP tablet computer like the TX2510 ?
Does Linux have a driver for the touchpad ?
Does Linux have a decent handwriting recognition app ?
Thanks

Install Issues
by Ed Warner
I was using F9 and with EOL coming, I did a fresh install of F11. Just a couple of issues I need some assistance with.
1 It appears dhclient is running although it shows it has been disabled. I am getting these errors. eth0 is my nic to the internet. It logs this about 6 or 7 times before it gives up; just slows down the boot process. I did not run dhclient on F9
Aug 1 11:23:08 bonsai dhclient: DHCPDISCOVER on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 8
Aug 1 11:23:16 bonsai dhclient: No DHCPOFFERS received.
2. My system seems to "go to sleep" after about 5 minutes. What ever was running just stops until I move the mouse. Nothing crashes just picks up where it left off. This is really frustrating when I am doing yum updates.
Thanks

Audio CD bug has fix
by Aaron Konstam
If one looks at bug 513495 we see that the problem of audio CDs not
showing up on the Desktop seems to be a udev problem after all.

missing dependency
by Mike Wright
Hi all,
I've just come across this:
-> Finished Dependency Resolution
perl-Gtk2-MozEmbed-0.08-6.fc10.2.i386 from updates has depsolving problems
--> Missing Dependency: gecko-libs = 1.9.0.11 is needed by package
perl-Gtk2-MozEmbed-0.08-6.fc10.2.i386 (updates)
I'd bugzilla it but I've never been able to figure out which packages
different things belong to.

Monitoring mirror status on Dell SAS 5/iR controller
by Ambrogio
Hi all,
I'm installing Fedora 11 on a Dell PE840.
Disks are connected to the internal RAID controller SAS 5/iR.
I configured the mirror between 2 disks, and now I'm trying to monitor
it with smartd
But smartd on /dev/sda told me that the disk is unsupported.
The disk is discovered by the kernel as
# kernel: scsi 4:1:0:0: Direct-Access Dell VIRTUAL DISK 1028 PQ: 0 ANSI: 5
For now I'm able to use the /dev/sg1 and /dev/sg2 to monitor the singol
disk, but I would like to know if there is a tool to monitor the status
of the controller and of the mirror, to know if the mirror is
sincronized or faulted.
Can someone point me to the right tools?
Tnx in advance

grubby recieved SIGSEGV! Backtrace (6):
by Justin P. Mattock
After a nice install, and compiling of the latest git
everything went smoothly.
Then I decided to recompile the kernel with
fedoras .config instead of mine.
went pretty good, but then after I went in and removed
the old System.map, and vmlinuz from my initial install
(then make install etc..)
this appeared:
sudo make install:
sh /home/name/packages/kernel/2.6.31/arch/x86/boot/install.sh
2.6.31-rc4-00295-g608ae20 arch/x86/boot/bzImage \
System.map "/boot"
grubby recieved SIGSEGV! Backtrace (6):
/sbin/grubby[0x40793f]
/lib64/libc.so.6[0x3674833370]
/sbin/grubby[0x40211c]
/sbin/grubby[0x407392]
/lib64/libc.so.6(__libc_start_main+0xfd)[0x367481ea2d]
/sbin/grubby[0x4018f9]
seems to be broken after this.
Any ideas?

Vonage phone service on a network with Fedora...
by Steven P. Ulrick
Hello Everyone
I have just (for now...) signed up for Vonage phone service. My system as is
was BEFORE I connected the Vonage V-Portal Phone Adapter was like this:
Two Fedora Linux systems connected to a router that is connected to a cable
modem that is connected to the Comcast cable that comes out of my wall. We do
NOT have any other services from Comcast other than cable internet. No TV, No
Phone, just Internet. I have a dynamic IP address. But, like with many of us,
it almost never changes.
THEN I connected the Vonage V-Portal Phone Adapter like the instructions
specify. In short, the adapter goes between the modem and the router. Which I
am reasonably sure is the cause of my problems.
I discovered after I connected the Vonage device that the IP address
that I have
had with Comcast had changed for the first time in a REAL long time. So, in an
attempt to fix my ability to access the mail server on my Fedora 8
system from my
new system (Fedora 11) I changed the IP address on dnsexit.com to match the new
one. This did not in any way change my situation... So I had an idea: I
disconnected the Vonage device, probably did a modem/router power cycle and
rebooted my PC's. Guess What? My IP address changed AGAIN! Any guesses on
what it changed to? The exact same IP address that I had before I
connected the
Vonage adapter... I wasn't exactly too suprised when my email setup started to
work perfectly again.
So, my question is, has anyone with two or more Fedora/Linux systems on a local
network that is also running a mail server on one of the systems been able to
successfully connect the Vonage V-Portal Phone Adapter to their network and
still have their network function exactly as it did before the adapter was
installed?
Your help is greatly appreciated!
