I use OpenSwan and xl2tp for this. Then you can make a new network
connection in Windows at home, to your F10 box, and have access to
the network behind it. http://www.openswan.org/. They also have a
nice mailing list similar to this Fedora list, which is very helpful.

Remote desktop connection (F10)
by David Hláčik
Hello guys,
I've seen recet discussion about nomachine remote server/client.
I would like to have a remote desktop connection to my fedora 10 server, which the most effective user feeling as if I was working on keyboard and lcd attached to server.
To compare, I am looking exactly for the same as microsoft remote desktop connection and microsoft services terminal (mstsc).
What I like the most is XDMCP connection, which I am using a lot currectly. But this has a big disadvantage, after I will close connection, session is lost, and I am not able to login to current session (loged user) again.
Please help,
many thanks

What's the Audit command "I Need it now!"
by Paul Ward
Hi All,
About 18 months ago I recall having to run an audit command on our
servers that created an archive file (tar maybe) of all the system
configurations files and info to send to a redhat technician.
I have completely forgotten the name of it can someone please tell me
what it's called, I don't think it's called auditd though.

VPN
by Ashley M. Kirchner
At the office I have an FC10 server that acts as our firewall for
our internal network. Eth0 is a public IP, and Eth1 is private.
Connections are handled by iptables. The internal network consists of
private IPs being handed out by a DHCP server running on that same FC10
server. Can someone give me some pointers or links on how I can
configure something that allows me, sitting at home using Windoze, to be
able to connect and access our internal network?
Thanks!

Gnome scanner utility crashes, no Bugzilla component
by Matthew Saltzman
In my F10 installation, the gnome-scan utility, flegita, segfaults when
it detects my scanner (attached to another machine on the network).
I went to Bugzilla to file a bug, but there is no component for
gnome-scanner or flegita. What component should I use?
Also, has anyone noticed that when one selects Fedora as the product in
Bugzilla, the version numbers don't change from the initial version
numbers associated with the default RHEL product?

KDE 4.2 requires local MySQL Server
by Andreas M. Kirchwitz
Hi folks,
most people with automatic updates might not have noticed, but if
you look closer, the recent bunch of updates, including KDE 4.2,
installs the MySQL server on the machine (and some other database
related stuff which MySQL depends on).
It's the "akonadi" package that requires a MySQL server to run.
Google shows that there's been a long discussion about this issue
some months ago. Unfortunately, akonadi cannot be uninstalled,
because that will break a lot of KDE dependencies.
Is there an easy way around it? An end-user desktop environment
requires a full-blown local database to be setup and run. Wow, I
didn't know that so many users are professional database admins
and know what to do. No KDE without MySQL.
For now, the KDE 4.2 stuff can be ignored:
yum update -x akonadi -x 'kde*' -x 'PyKDE*' -x ksysguardd -x oxygen-icon-theme
Of couse, KDE updates cannot be ignored forever ...
Is this MySQL dependency by intention? Couldn't find anything
helpful on this or on the devel mailing list, although this is
a big issue, IMHO.
Confused ... Andreas
