Is there another list that relates specifically to redhat/fedora and VOIP?

Group for screen command.
by Mark Haney
What group does a regular user need to be part of in Fedora to use the
'screen' command? I can probably sudo it, but thought there was a group
I could add the user to that would allow it. Am I wrong?

OT: Problem reading 2GB SD card
by awrobinson-ml@nc.rr.com
Got a new digital camera. Got a 2GB secure digital card. Filled it up
with pics. When I tried to read the pics on the built-in SD slot on my
laptop running FC6, I could only access about half the images. I figured
I had a bad card so I bought another, from a different manufacturer as
it happens. I filled the card with pics on the camera. When I tried to
read it on the laptop, I could only access about half the images. I put
the card back in the camera and could see all the images. This time I
figured it was a software problem.
I doubt this is a Fedora problem. But I was hoping someone on the list
could point me to either a solution or a search string. So far all I've
come up with are forums on merchant sites.
Thanks!

missing base url for livna
by charles f. zeitler
when i use kyum i get a: *** Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: livna.
livna.repo shows:
[livna]
name=Livna for Fedora Core $releasever - $basearch - Base
failovermethod=priority
enabled=1
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-livna
[livna-debuginfo]

name=Livna for Fedora Core $releasever - $basearch - Source
failovermethod=priority
enabled=0
gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-livna
gpgcheck=1
hmmm... no base url there!
so i renamed livna.repo & re-installed the "repository" rpm,
and the new livna.repo is the same.
any pointers?
thanx,

php map software
by Michael A. Peters
I'm curious as to whether or not anyone is aware of existing php code to
plot data on a map.
Specifically - I'd like to divide the county I live in into hexagons,
feed various GPS coordinates to the php script, and the hexagon
containing the long/lat coordinated gets filled in (entire hexagon).
Purpose is to make a range map within my county of confirmed wild
reptiles/amphibians by species without providing the precise coordinates
for where the specimen was found.
I'm hoping there is already some existing php code I can adapt for this
kind of thing (hexagons are better than squares for this type of thing,
but I'm guessing a little more complex in the math to figure out which
hexagon a coordinate belongs to).
Any pointers appreciated.

Automounting MP3 Player
by Dave Cross
I have an iRiver MP3 player. Previously, when I have attached it to my
Fedora system, it has been automatically recognised and mounted and an
icon has appeared on the desktop.
Just now when I plugged it in, I didn't get any of that happening. I
still got the following messages in /var/log/messages

And I can still get access to the player by manually mounting
/dev/sdc5 to the appropriate directory. But it used to be an automatic
process and I'd like to get that functionality back.
I recently did a clean installation of Fedora 8 onto this system. I'm
pretty sure that it has worked since the upgrade (but I can't be 100%
sure of that).
Any advice appreciated.
Cheers,
Dave...

F8: Some deprecated udev-related file
by Oliver Ruebenacker
Dear friends,
Since I ugraded from F7 to F8, whenever I boot I see some message
about udev saying that some file is deprecated and some other file
should be somehow used. Applying the updates did not change anything
about that.
Is this serious? Should I do anything about it and if so, what?
I don't remember the names of the files. I tried to find the boot
messages, but from what I understand after some web searching is that
boot messages are not stored anywhere since FC4.
Thank you for your help.
Take care
Oliver

Some versions ago (FC4, IIRC) kudzu segfaulted with some problematic video
cards.
You should probably open a bug, but try first doing a "safe probe" (take a
look at the man page: I don't remember the switch right now) and see if it
works.

More in the truecrypt 5.0 saga
by Tom Horsley
My latest truecrypt patches can be found here:
http://home.att.net/~Tom.Horsley/tah-tc-5.0.tar.gz
This provides a NOGUI=1 build option so you can make
a truecrypt that will work without needing an X server
(and without needing a gazillion X and gtk libs dragged
into memory with it :-).
Also has my 64 bit build patch (much the same as all
the others which sprang into existence at about the
same time :-).
