[MKas@localhost [1] ~]$ firefox
/usr/lib/firefox-3.0.5/run-mozilla.sh: line 131: 3847 Segmentation fault "$prog" ${1+"$@"}
or (I tried to run through root with no configs):

1-second kernel
by Konstantin Svist
There was a 5-second Linux entry a while back, and it was mentioned that
2.6.27 should boot in 1 second (with .5-second boot coming in 2.6.28)
I'm not seeing it on the F10 install (updated to latest release version).
I'm guessing that's because of initrd (I heard that it must be turned
off for 1-second kernel to work).
Is there (or are there plans for) a maintained version of 1-second
kernel for Fedora?

how to push video out a dell laptop "display port"?
by Robert P. J. Day
i have in front of me a dell latitude E6500 laptop (WUXGA display)
running F10, with one of dell's funky new "display ports" on the back,
as opposed to a standard DVI or HDMI port. all i want to do is push
video out that port to a WUXGA samsung flat-panel display, which i've
been able to do for months from an older dell inspiron that had a DVI
port.
i'd never seen one of these "display ports" before, and had the
powers-that-be order the apparently essential adapter cables (one
DP-DVI, one DP-HDMI). but i have been utterly unable to get video out
that port. in fact, if i boot the laptop with the port connected, i
get absolutely no video in *either* place.
has anyone messed with one of these? can you share the secret?
thanks.

Dec 26 00:33:11 Installed: kernel-2.6.27.9-159.fc10.x86_64
Now my system won't boot. I just get the "GRUB " line, not even a
splash screen. Could this be caused by the kernel-firmware update? I
don't have Rawhide or even updates-testing enabled, so this is kind of
surprising in a presumably stable update. My video is onboard Intel
945 if it matters. I can boot from a rescue disk so the hardware would
seem to be basically OK, but I don't know what to rescue ...
All suggestions gratefully received.

inserting audio cd into cdrom does nothing?
by Neal Becker
Inserting an audio cd into the cdrom drive does not seem to do anything.
I do see a bunch of:
Dec 26 11:16:18 nbecker1 kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 4
Dec 26 11:16:18 nbecker1 kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 528
Dec 26 11:16:18 nbecker1 kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 532
Dec 26 11:16:18 nbecker1 kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 528
Dec 26 11:16:18 nbecker1 kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 532
Dec 26 11:16:18 nbecker1 kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 528
Dec 26 11:16:18 nbecker1 kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 532
However, if I bring up k3b and ask to copy the cd, it seems to proceed fine.
