pdftk - f9 & f10
by Frank Cox
It's my understanding that pdftk was removed from the F9 repository due to some
licensing issues with itext (which pdftk requires to work).
pdftk is rather important to me and I assume a lot of other people as well. I
use it to create two-up impositions for a printing press.
I found a web page that stated the problems with itext had now been solved so
itext was in the F10 rawhide repo.
I just checked and sure enough, itext-2.1.3-4.fc10.src.rpm, right there large
as life.
However, pdftk isn't there.
Accordingly I have two questions:
Will itext also become officially available for F9?
Will pdftk become officially available for F9 and F10?

control-center??
by Beartooth
How do I get a control-center launcher on my panel??
It seems I have it, all right :
[btth@Thpd30 ~]$ rpm -q control-center
control-center-2.20.3-3.fc8
[btth@Thpd30 ~]$
But I can't find it in the Main Menu. Does it wear some weirdly
unrecognizable other name there??

Non-kde app launcher in KDE4 F9?
by mike cloaked
I must have missed something.... I have been trying out KDE4 in a fully
updated F9 system.
I could not find how to set up an icon in the panel to launch an application
that was compiled and stored but not in the list of applications available in
the kickoff menus - it can be run using right click and then
"Run Application" - but is it possible to create an icon to run it directly?
Or is this something that has to wait till 4.2?

java library deps on custom build
by Christoph Höger
Hi folks,
I've just compiled scilab on my f9 laptop and tried to run it, but get a
lot of libraries missing. Ldd says that some java libs (libjava.so,
libjvm.so) are not found. Those libraries float around
in /usr/lib/java... Shouldn't that mean that theyre found automagically
or do I really have to add every single subfolder to LD_LIBRARY_PATH?

fedora 9/10 Guest account?
by Matt Nicholson
I'm looking to get a guest account setup, possibly on a whole host of
workstations I run running F9.
These workstations auth against and ldap/kerberos setup we have, fyi.
so far, my idea is to create a local "guest" user, and user pam_mount to
create a tmpfs home directory for the guest user on login, so that it will
be removed on logout. I want this user to only be able to login though GDM.
Does any one have any experiance doing something like this? is there any
though of taking the Guest user system Ubutu recently implemented on?
Any help/ideas would be great.

Why is a terminal in F9 starting in ~/Documents?
by Steven W. Orr
Under F9, after I come up, I see that when I start a terminal app, that
app is not in my $HOME directory. Instead, it's in ~/Documents. Is there a
way to prevent this from happening?
