Use Amaya web browser with SVG
by Dave Feustel
Those working with SVG should check out the Amaya web browser/editor
at www.w3.org/amaya/. I downloaded the source, configured, built and
installed it on F9 with no problems. Amaya provides a lot of error
checking for syntax errors in the xml/svg/html files it works with.

preupgrade fails
by Colin Brace
Hi all,
I am trying to upgrade an F9 system to F10 using preupgrade.
First, preupgrade complains there isn't enough space on the boot partition:
Not enough space in /boot/upgrade to download install.img.
The installer can download this file once it starts, but this requires a
wired network connection during installation.
Fine, I go ahead, and it downloads all the RPMs.
Then, when everything is done, it prompts for a reboot. I click the "reboot"
button, and this text is displayed in the terminal window:
Probing devices to guess BIOS drives. This may take a long time.
After twenty minutes I give up waiting, and reboot manually.
After rebooting, the system can't find the .img file, so it offers to
download one from a local FTP mirror, displaying what looks like an
authentic URL. But it refuses to accept it, no matter how many times I press
"continue", even though there should be a live LAN connection.
If offers to allow me to continue "manually" but of course I don't have a
local DVD image on hand. So, I reboot, and am back in F9.
Any suggestions on how to get this working? My /boot partition (non-LVM) is
99MB, of which 49MB is in use. Does anyone know how big the .img file is and
whether there is anything I can delete in /boot to make room for it?
TIA
-----

F10: mount floppy from gnome
by Craig Goodyear
I am not able to mount a floppy using the mount option for the floppy
drive in the Computer folder on the Gnome desktop. Selecting the open
option, gives the following error: "Unable to mount location, Can't
mount file". I do not get any selinux errors. /dev/fd0 is created when
the computer boots.
However, if I add the following entry to /etc/fstab for the floppy, I
can mount, access, or umount the floppy from a terminal:
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto noauto,user 0 0
What do I need to look at to track down the source of this problem? I
have searched bugzilla without finding a related error.

Compiling Xen 3.0.2 from source on FC5[general protection fault 000[1]]
by ADITYA KRISHNAN
Hi,
I am working on x86_64 amd opetron cluster which runs fc5. I wanted to
install the older version of Xen i.e xen 3.0.2-3 for research purposes. I
wanted to compile the xen kernel with debug info. Hence I tried to compile
it from source. It compiled successfully and I made corresponding entries to
the grub.conf file. Is there any rpm package for xen with debug info
available on fc5 fro x86_64 ?
Please let me know. For now directly compiling from teh source gives the
following error:

firefox 3 and autocomplete?
by Tom Horsley
I've noticed one annoying thing in the new firefox 3
while playing with fedora 10.
The https://www.squarefree.com/bookmarklets/forms.html
remember password javascript bookmark no longer works.
I need it to disable the autocomplete=off that annoying
webmasters put in some forms and password fields, but
even though it acts as though it works, firefox 3 still
won't offer to remember the fields.
Anyone know a new way to make firefox 3 ignore
autocomplete=off?

error on burning ISO using brasero: FC10
by Globe Trotter
Hi,
I have been trying to burn a disc (the Fedora ISO, actually) using brasero and I get the following error:
Session error : SCSI error on write(-6,16): key=5 asc=21h ascq=02h (brasero_burn_record burn.c:2524)
Can someone please tell me how to get around it? I am happy to provide more details if I can know what to post.
Many thanks and best wishes,
Trotter

Keyboard layouts in the home directory
by Andreas Waldenburger
Hello there,
I'm currently banging my head over getting Fedora-10 to work properly.
First issue: Keyboard layouts.
I have a custom keyboard layout (via xkb). Previously I fumbled in
the /usr/X11/xkb/* directories to make my customizations visible to the
desktop environment. But what I'd really like is a way to do this from
my home directory, so new installs don't botch my settings all the time
and I don't have to remember the damn procedure (which seems about a
million times more complicated for Gnome than for every other DE out
there, but I digress).
So while this isn't a Fedora question, really (sorry for that), I do
hope that Fedora has an answer for me.
