Re: ndiswrapper does not load at startup
by Zoran Spasojevic
Thanks Linuxguy123.
Now the Firefox is switched to the offline mode at start-up and the
network connection icon on (2 computers and a red x)
right hand side of the panel seems to be showing that the network
connection is off (perhaps this is why the Firefox is in the offline mode).
Do you have any suggestions for these 2 issues?
Thanks again,
Zoran

killed by TERM signal
by Felipe Nunez
Hi:
Can any one in the list tell me, why this message is repeated multiple times
every day in my computer.
"killed by TERM signal"
I'm using Fedora 9. Sometimes it crashes.
I've googled with no clear results.

redhat docs say: "to disable IPV6"
by Fred Silsbee
To do this, first remove this line from /etc/modprobe.conf if this line exists. (Most Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems will not have one).
alias net-pf-10 ipv6
Next, add the following line to /etc/modprobe.conf:
alias net-pf-10 off
Reboot the system. IPv6 support should now be disabled.
______________________________________________________
I disabled IPV6 once and there were several places:
in /etc/profile.d/kde.csh there is
## if not using IPv6, speeds DNS operations
# if ( ! $?KDE_NO_IPV6 ) setenv KDE_NO_IPV6 1
also /etc/Muttrc
do a
>cd /etc
>grep -iR ipv6 .|more

FC8/FC9 : 1To hard disk doesn't work
by Jean-Philippe Battu
Hello
On a linux box, I use an added card to provide sata connexions.
This card is an ALI card, the M5281 Serial ATA.
On this card, I connected a 500Go hard disk sata II with no
problem: the disk is recognize, no errors in the messages log file.
hdparm -tT works well with this hard disk
on this card, on the second port, I connected a 1To hard disk: WDC
10EACS. the disk is recognized well but a lot of errors are written on
the messages log file when I try to write a large file (36M) or to do
simply a hdparm -tT on this device. The problem is the same with FC7/
FC8 and FC9.

The problem is the same if I have only one partition (1To ext3) or

Is there a problem with my WD hard disk ? or is it a problem with 1To

what about 1 To hard disk and Fedora ?
Thanks in advance for your help
Cheers

IRC classroom sessions
by Kevin Fenzi
Greetings.
We have been working to improve IRC based support for Fedora of late,
and one of the ideas was to start up some classroom type sessions to
teach/show specific things for interested folks.
See: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicate/IRC
for more information on IRC.
Toward that end, I thought I would post here and see if I can gather a
feeling for general interest for the idea and some thoughts about
sessions that would be well attended.
Feel free to reply directly to me...
1. Would you be interested in attending a classroom session on IRC?
2. What sessions would be of most interest to you?
Some examples:
a. How to get involved in Fedora
b. Pulseaudio and Sound
c. Demo's of new Features coming in the next release.
d. Basic desktop usage
e. How to file a good bugreport in bugzilla.redhat.com.
f. How to make a rpm package.
g. Upgrading and Reinstalling tips and tricks
h. Learn how to Triage bugs
i. Selinux and security features.
j. iptables and firewalls
k. kvm and libvirt tips and tricks.
l. Other: please explain.
3. What general times would be good for you to attend a classroom
session? Weekends? Weekdays? Weekday evenings in the EDT timezone?
4. Would you be interested in leading a classroom session on some area
you know well?
Thanks,
kevin

Maybe that's why some of my digests are shown byThunderbird as [Bulk],
others not......

F10 and picasa
by Marcelo Garcia
Hi
I installed Picasa using the a Google repo. When I try to search,
appears a message saying that Google-testing is invalid:
Bad id for repo: google testing, byte = 6
The repo was defined as described in
http://www.google.com/linuxrepositories/testrepo.html
And Picasa itself is not starting: I receive the following message:
[mgarcia@d510 ~]$ picasa
/usr/bin/picasa: line 139: 24613 Segmentation fault
"$PIC_BINDIR"/wrapper check_dir.exe.so
/usr/bin/picasa: line 175: 24716 Segmentation fault
"$PIC_BINDIR/wrapper" regedit /E $registry_export
HKEY_USERS\\S-1-5-4\\Software\\Google\\Picasa\\Picasa2\\Preferences\\

OT redhat.com uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is only valid for www.redhat.com.

boinc configuration ??
by Bill Case
Hi;
I posted the following questions on the boinc mailing list a couple of
days ago. I have received no answer so I hope that someone here is
familiar enough with Boinc to help.
"I am trying to configure the boincmgr display. These are minor display
problems. I have boinc-client and boincmgr starting and running
successfully on Fedora 9.
I have tried to set the display using ~/.Boinc Manager, but nothing
seems to stick.
Some things I would like to set:
1. The hostname. Choices used to drop down in the Advanced Tab; now they
are blank and I am unable to figure out where to reconfigure.
2. I would like to configure the overall geometry; size and screen
position
3. I would like to set boincmgr to open in workspace 4 when I login. I
have sessions set to open boincmgr but it always opens in workspace 1
and I can't find how to change to another workspace.
4. I was playing around and lost my boincmgr automatic connection to
boinc client. It should be a simple command to re-configure but I can't
find out where and how.
5. If I remember correctly, earlier versions of ~/.Boinc Manager had
more configuration options. If so, how can I get just a new
configuration file with ALL the optons?"
