Problem updating OpenSSL
by Javier Perez
Hi
I am getting something weird when trying to update openssl. It is so
weird I do not know even how to google for it.
All the missing packages exist at /usr/lib64
How come yum does not find them?
Likewise, what is it with all those '2's

Re: Canoscan N640P in FC6

http://www.sane-project.org/sane-mfgs.html#Z-CANON claims that the N640P
has good support under sane, so the theory is that it should work :-).
One thing I've noticed before with printer port devices is that there
are several different ways you can configure the printer port in the
system bios, and sometimes some configs work better than others.

Hi folks.
I've got a web site running on one server and I want to have it control a
service controlled by xinetd on another server.
Anyone got any pointers/links that could help

how to copy to clipboard an entire text file?
by Robert P. J. Day
i just know there's a trivial answer to this, but i don't know what
it is. i want to, in one operation, copy to the clipboard the
*entire* contents of a text file, even though it's so long its full
contents can't appear in my X session at the same time. (i can, of
course, trivially grab as much as what's visible, but that's not going
to work with several hundred lines.)
thoughts? thanks.

downloading fc7 updates manually?
by Dave Burns
I'd like to download all the rpms of security updates to fc7 since the
release. I will be using a machine running fc6, so "yum -y update"
won't actually do it.
If getting just the security updates is hard, I'd settle for getting
all the updates.
If for some reason getting the updates is hard, I guess I will have to
try to make a private mirror of the repository. That's a bit more
elaborate than I really need, but at least it has been discussed
recently on the list.
How should I choose a repository to get stuff from? Usually I just let
yum do it, and I don't know what's going on under the hood. Is there
some FAQ or howto I should look at? I tried googling and poking
around, found the basic release rpms at redhat.com, but can't figure
out where updates come from. Must be overlooking something obvious.
Thanks,
Dave

The true Southern watermelon is a boon apart, and not to be mentioned
with commoner things. It is chief of the world's luxuries, king by the
grace of God over all the fruits of the earth. When one has tasted it,
he knows what the angels eat. It was not a Southern watermelon that Eve
took; we know it because she repented. -- Mark Twain, "Pudd'nhead

My Thinkpad T600's had serial ports. My T40 does not. Wish it did, as I
am fighting with a Prolific PL2303 USB to Serial Adapter to try to talk
to a Hewlett-Packard Hp48GX calculator....never connects.
