Changing the Color Coded Filesystem
by General Manager
Hello,
Can Anyone tell me how I can change the color files systems. The color blue
for the "Directories" is really hard to see.
Also is there a way to change the background color?
Thanks

I have upgraded from fc5 to fc6 today and now i can not compile the driver for the dexxa webcam. I got it from sourceforge (qc-usb-0.6.4).
After symlinking autoconf.h to config.h to get over the missing config.h error, i get the following:

FC4 to FC5 upgrade login sound reeeaaaallll slow
by Philip Walden
I just upgraded from FC4 to FC5 using the download iso images.
It was painless enough, but now when the log in screen is present, the
log in sound plays reeeeaaaaalllllyyyy slow. After I login the rest of
the sounds come on perfectly. When I check out the
System->Preferences->Sounds. There is a momentary blank warning dialog
and then the Sound dialog comes up. All the sounds, including the log in
sound play at the correct speed.
Any thoughts.
Its a HP Omnibook 6000, ESS Maestro-3i, the driver is snd-maestro3.

Re: FC6 Nightly Yum Updates
by Akemi Yagi
Don Maxwell wrote:

I am still trying to figure out how to set up the nightly yum update as the
way it was in FC5. I can write my own cronjob but there must be a better
way to do this in FC6. With the default installation of yum-updatesd, it
is not updating anything. So, perhaps, the thing to do is to edit
/etc/yum/yum-updatesd.conf in such a way that it automatically install new
updates?
Any help or pointer would be greatly appreciated.

Konqueror will not run from menu in FC6
by Arch Willingham
In FC6 (test 2,test 3 and final release), Konqueror will not run. You click on the menu item and nothing happens. This is true on two different machines.
It works if I do this from the command line:
/usr/bin/konqueror
Link points to "/tmp/ksocket-root"
Link points to "/tmp/kde-root"
kbuildsycoca running...
Reusing existing ksycoca
Any ideas?

Tips for passing the media check
by Matthew J. Roth
List members,
I downloaded the FC6 installation images to my Windows XP machine and
used Nero to burn them to CDs, but the media check kept failing. After
some research, I found a reliable method for burning installation CDs
that pass the media check.
1) Boot into Knoppix using the following boot options
- knoppix 2 toram dma
2) Stop the automount service
- /etc/init.d/autofs stop
3) Unmount the CD burner
- umount /mnt/cdrom
4) Mount the drive containing the FC6 images
- mount /dev/hda1
5) Change to the directory containing the FC6 images
- cd /mnt/hda1/FC6/i386
6) Burn the images to CD
- cdrecord -v -pad -dao speed=16 -eject dev=/dev/cdrom
FC-6-i386-disc1.iso
Of course, any Linux distribution should work, but I just happened to
have my Knoppix 4.0.2 CD handy. The important part is invoking cdrecord
with the -pad and -dao options. In order to determine the right speed
setting for your machine, you can use the -dummy option to perform test
runs.
Good luck,
Matthew Roth

Build of VMWARE worstation and FC-6 ?
by don fisher
Has anybody else had a problem building vmware workstation? I receive
the following:
What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your
running kernel? [/usr/src/linux/include]
The directory of kernel headers (version @@VMWARE@@ UTS_RELEASE) does
not match your running kernel (version 2.6.18). Even if the module were
to compile successfully, it would not load into the running kernel.
I am confident that I have the correct kernel source loaded. I even went
out to kernel source and built a version from the base distribution.
I am afraid I do not know what @@VMWARE@@ UTS_RELEASE means.
Thanks for your help
