system-config-kickstart problems in FC2
by Andre Schlink
Hi *,
i'm having trouble on a server (upgraded from RH9, no X) and my Laptop (clean install)
with system-config-kickstart. I'd like to generate a kickstart file with the
current state of my server. As i havn't installed X on the server, i try to use
"system-config-kickstart --generate ks_config_040601" to generate the file without graphical
interface. I get exactly the same error on the server and on my Laptop:
[root@myserver root]# system-config-kickstart --generate ks_config_040601

Calling system-config-kickstart without the option --generate starts the graphical interface
on my Laptop but when i try to open anaconda-cf.cfg i get:
[root@mithrandir root]# system-config-kickstart

Any hints on this? I havn't found anything on google...

subversion-1.0.4-1
by Andrew Gormanly
It seems the latest subversion RPMS, released last night, are broken.
The i386 binary of 1.0.4-1 can't find libcom_err.so.3, which used to be
packaged in krb5-libs under Red Hat Linux 9. libcom_err.so.2 is on the
system as part of e2fsprogs.
Rebuilding the SRPM, I get a missing libdb-4.0.la - but FC2 is on
db4-4.2. End of the build process is:

Kernel panic in shrink_cache/ __remove_inode_page / refile_inode on 2.4.22-1.2188.nptlsmp and test 2.4.22-1.2190.nptlsmp
by Aleksander Adamowski
Hi!
Anybody else seeing frequent kernel panics in refile_inode (called from
__remove_inode_page, called from shrink_cache) on 2.4.22-1.2188.nptlsmp?
I've filed a bug report in Bugzilla, if you experience similar panics
you could help tracking it down:
http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=123332
There's also a bug with exactly the same symptoms which the Redhat guys
claim to have fixed in 2.4.22-1.2190 test kernel update, but in my case
the panice still occur.
The text of panic usually looks like this (the top of call trace look
always teh same, down to the function try_to_free_pages_zone):
Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000000

fstab entry for usbkey
by mdsabila
Hi all,
In FC1, I mount my usbkey by adding below entry in /etc/fstab.
Unfortunately I can't do the same in FC2. It keep complaining about
wrong filesystem and unable to mount it. What's the correct entry to add
in FC2 so it work exactly the same as in FC1?
/dev/sda1 /mnt/usbkey vfat
user,iocharset=utf8,umask=0,sync,quiet,exec,codepage=
TIA

Thanks Marc
not sure what you mean by the BIOS safe settings.
I did try the kernel params :
acpi=off
acpi=ht
pci=noacpi
but still the same Kernel panic.
However,
my actual trace info is different to the one listed at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=124329

Steve - I don't think anyone has given you the most obvious answer yet:
have you set your bios to default "safe" settings? It seems to be an
acpi problem - maybe a bios update or switch as much of the acpi stuff
off as possible?
Hope this helps.
