FC3: does Apache-2.0.52 have LFS (large file support) built-in?
by Patrick
Hello,
Apache-2.0.52 on FC3 does not show files >2GB in a DirectoryIndex. It
does show files <2GB. Am I doing something wrong or is Apache on FC3
lacking LFS? Here is my config:
<VirtualHost *:80>
ServerAdmin webmaster@host
DocumentRoot /mnt/data
ServerName lfs
ErrorLog logs/lfs-error.log
CustomLog logs/lfs-access_log common
<Directory /mnt/data>
Options Indexes
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
AllowOverride All
</Directory>
</VirtualHost>
Thanks,

Upgrade fc2 ==>fc - almost ok
by Truls Gulbrandsen
Hi,
I upgraded recently from fc2 to fc3 and most things went ok but I
experienced the following trouble:
1) Firefox and plugins did not work well, especially the media plugins.
The solution was to remove and reinstall all plugins.
2) Thunderbird goes down from time to time without warning. I have a
special mail that I can only open when using "forward". The mail
contains files with .doc, .lwp and .rtf extensions. Tryind to open this
particular mail causes Thunderbird to close down immediately.
3) I am not anylonger allowed to log in as root, the message is "root
login not allowed". My root id and pw works fine with terminal and consoll.
Any suggestions to solve the problems?
Thanks and regards,
Truls

FC3 aic7xxx woes?
by Luke Rosenthal
Hi,
Has anyone had problems getting an Adaptec 39360 controller (1 disk
attached) to auto-detect during the FC3 install? I'm getting lockups when
the aic7xxx driver tries to load. I can run the installer with the
noprobe option, and pass "aic7xxx=reverse_scan:1" as options to the
module, but further on into the install, FC3 bails out saying there's no
media available on which to create partitions.
Should I be loading more modules? Passing other options? Any clues or
guidance appreciated.
Luke.

MySQL performance drop with FC2 kernels
by N T
I am seeing that performance using MySQL 4.1.7 drops by a significant
amount if I use a FC2 kernel (2.6.8-1.521smp or 2.6.9-1.6_FC2smp)
compared to running a stock 2.6.9 kernel downloaded from kernel.org.
The vanilla kernel was compiled using the i686-smp config that FC2
used. I see similar issues when running MySQL 4.0.xx. All MySQL
versions were installed from the RPMs available from
<http://www.mysql.com>.
The benchmark being used to measure performance was RUBiS
<http://rubis.objectweb.org/>. While vanilla 2.6.9 can service ~220
reqs/s, FC2's version of 2.6.9 can only deliver ~120 reqs/sec.
I have a Dell Poweredge with a hyperthreaded Pentium IV. However, I am
not sure what other information might be relevant to narrow this
problem. There was a thread on FedoraForum.org
<http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/archive/index.php/t-20064.html>
about a similar problem but I did not see any resolution there.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Niraj

Anyone have pointers to bugzilla rpm/srpm that might work
on FC3? I've checked the usual suspects - but couldn't
locate it there
