rpm question
by Andrew Robinson
Is there a way to compile and install a source rpm in one step? I thought I
have seen this before. However, I have not been able to find it with a
couple of hours of looking on google.
Thanks!

Linux Mt Rainier CD-MRW support
by Tom Diehl
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone knows the status of Mt Rainier CD-MRW support
in fedora? I googled for it and it looks like it went in the 2.4 kernel tree
around 2.4.19 or 20 but I cannot be sure. I just got a dvd drive that supports
it. If it is enabled does anyone have a pointer to a doc on howto use it??
If it is not in 2.4 will it be in FC2/2.6??
TIA,
........Tom

macromedia flash player
by matt warner
One more problem...
I can't get Flash to install on Mozilla or Netscape. I've done
everything the program says, and the install program itself even says
that the installation was complete. However, Flash items still do not
show up. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
thanks.

alsa and midishare unresolved symbols on kernel 2135
by John McBride
Hi,
Recently I followed the updating instructions on the unoffical fedora
howto, and ended up with kernel 2.4.22-1.2135.nptl installed via yum.
I've been trying to get muse :
http://lmuse.sourceforge.net/
...to work on my laptop but it needs stuff like jack, alsa and midishare.
I've tried source rpms from Planet CCRMA and FreshRPMS, and alsa seems
to build and install okay either way (Fresh has 1.0.0-0.rc2.1) but the
modules won't load.
Here is the output of /sbin/depmod -ae:

I guess this means 2135 was configured differently than 2115? Since
FreshRPMS released binaries for 2115 it must have worked at that point,
right?
I don't even know where to start. Thanks for any help, I'd use the
Planet CCRMA kernel but it freezes my laptop every 10 minutes or so.

Track pad on a Dell laptop
by Ben Ricker
Installed Fedora core 1 on a Dell Latitude with one of those
trackpad/glidesticks and I am trying to get it to work. I tried
downloading tpconfig from compass.com which I clicked-through from
"Linux on Laptops". Still no joy.
Am I missing a pkg? Has anyone got the trackpad to work with Fedora? I
am fresh out of PS2 mice.
Thanks,
Ben Ricker

Re: Boot-Up Hangs
by Dave Brennan
>>> paul.hamradio(a)verizon.net 12/31/03 07:27am >>>
Hello All,
After a fresh install, when the system boots it hangs after:
Initializing Firewire controller (ohci1394): [OK]
Any suggestions how I can get past this?
Paul
Paul,
My fresh install of Fedora Core used to hang when initializing my
firewire card but I swapped the PCI slot of the Firewire card and the
SCSI card and then everything booted and works fine. Not sure If I
needed to move my SCSI card but I just swapped them around.
Dave.

Mount ntfs
by R Crunk
Is there any simple way to mount the ntfs partition read only in Fedora?
I have been Googling for hours. I have been to
http://linux-ntfs.sourceforge.net/ and there is not a rpm there for the
latest Fedora kernel. I have the fat32 partition on my drive mounted
but the ntfs gives me a 'file system not supported in kernel" error.
I have the settings entered into my fstab file.
Thanks,
Randall
