I may have the wrong end of the stick, but what about the increasingly
common situation where wired access to Ethernet switches is beings
controlled by 802.1x authentication? I understand that NM will handle
the laptop/workstation with GUI case, but what about servers? And how
does NM handle static IP addresses?
The next version is targetting better static IP support and almost
definitely will have wired 802.1x support as well. (along with
networking-before-login and LEAP)
