[Bug 456515] New: Dragging Files via NFS share moves instead of copy
by Andy Lawrence
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=456515
Summary: Dragging Files via NFS share moves instead of copy
Product: Fedora
Version: 9
Platform: i386
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: low
Priority: low
Component: nautilus
AssignedTo: tbzatek(a)redhat.com
ReportedBy: dr.diesel(a)gmail.com
QAContact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org
CC: tbzatek(a)redhat.com
Description of problem:
Server machine is F6, client is F9. When I drag a file from the server to
client it moves the files instead of copying? If I move it back from the
client
to the server is copies instead of moving?
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Client F9 Stable, all updates current. Server F6.
How reproducible:
Everytime
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Setup Client/Server NFS Share
2. Drag files in Gnome from server to client
Actual results:
>From server to client files are moved not copied. From client to server
files
are copied.
Expected results:
In both cased files should be copied and not moved.
Additional info:
Any thoughts on this? I'd consider it a major bug due to the possibility of
lost data. This bug was written on a F9 box, but I couldn't find any
evidence it was fixed in Rawhide.
Thanks
Andy

gtk-murrine-engine problem with Firefox
by David Hláčik
Hello guys, I am using gtk-murrine-engine-0.53.1-2.fc9.i386 .
Everything seems to works fine except Firefox .
Buttons under Firefox are not correctly displayed there is a row cutting
image into 2 parts (as if button ending - shadow is before it actual end) .
Simple - this is bug .
Is there any way to fix it? Probably setting some parameters to Firefox UI
in config?
Thanks!

where's gimp-2.4.7 for F9 ?
by Jack Tanner
koji says it's in updates-testing, and so does bodhi. I don't see it in either
updates-testing or in updates. Where'd it go?

Rawhide install 9/19 via NFS fails network setup
by Mike Chambers
When configuring network setup (static IP) and hitting apply, got a
traceback. Wasn't able to save the output, but did copy down what looks
like the problem line..
/usr/lib/anaconda/iw/netconfig_dialog.py line 191 in
_ok.netdev.bringDeviceUp () not present or available or something.
NetworkDevice instance has no attribute 'bringDeviceUp'
Something along those lines and had to exit the installer.

Lonely packages looking for cosy new owner
by Hans de Goede
Hi All,
I still need to write a little blog post of this, but as from Sept 1st
I've been hired by RedHat to work on anaconda (the installer). As such I
would like to reduce my package load as much as possible so that I can
focus fully on my new job.
Thus *all* of my packages are looking for a new owner (I'm not actually
orphaning them, but I *really* want to lower my load quite a bit).
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/pkgdb/users/packages/jwrdegoede?acls=owner
If you are willing to take over any let me know and I'll orphan them and
you can pick them up. I'll be around for a long time to come to answer
any questions and help with any issues with them, so don't hesitate!
Thanks & Regards,
Hans

sram card
by Chaitanya
Hi,
I was trying to get a Pretec SRAM PCMCIA card to be detected on a
Fedora 8.
The module gets loaded correctly and lspci also shows the card.
But the pccardctl shows it as "no driver".
The kernel is compiled with PCMCIA support
I'm not sure if this is the correct mailing list to contact, please let
me know if there is another list.
Thanks in advance.

Re: No more MAKEDEV?

Please don't _remove_ MAKEDEV.
I believe the FHS requires the existence of MAKEDEV, anyway; see:
http://www.pathname.com/fhs/pub/fhs-2.3.html#DEVDEVICEFILES
There are a lot of reasons to manually create a device in /dev.
Nothing requires that the _initial_ boot use MAKEDEV, though.
If the upstream solution works and is really sound, you could use it,
and leave MAKEDEV around as a "manual override" switch.
Has this gotten enough testing, though? A post-freeze change
in fundamental boot methods might leave systems unbootable.

FESCo Meeting Summary for 2008-09-17
by Josh Boyer
=== Present ===
* Josh Boyer (jwb)
* Kevin Fenzi (nirik)
* Jarod Wilson (j-rod)
* Jon Stanley (jds2001)
* Dennis Gilmore (dgilmore)
=== Absent ===
* Brian Pepple (bpepple)
* Bill Nottingham (notting)
* David Woodhouse (dwmw2)

== Summary ==
=== Features ===
* FESCo approved the following features for F10:
** https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/Red_Hat_Messaging
** https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/GStreamer_dependencies_in_RPM
*** There was a bit of discussion on the naming of Red Hat Messaging, however
that is the actual project/product name and it wasn't enough of a concern to
impact the Feature's acceptance.
As an added note, the following Feature pages have not been updated. They
need to be updated before Beta or they will be dropped as Features:
** https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/BetterStartup
** https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/EFI
** https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/FirstAidKit
** https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/GNOME2_24

** https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/Sugar
** https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/TimeZoneAndLocation
=== Sponsor Nominations ===
* FESCo approved Bernie Innocenti as a sponsor. Dennis Gilmore volunteered
to guide Bernie in his sponsor activities as he comes up to speed. Congrats
to Bernie and Thanks to Dennis.
=== MinGW ===
* The MinGW discussion was delayed until next week. This was at the request
of Richard Jones, and also as a result of light attendance from the FESCo
members due to the Linux Plumbers Conference or other unavoidable reasons.
=== 'make force-tag'/TAG_OPTS=-F ===
* nirik brought the force-tag/TAG_OPTS=-F discussion again in light of new
information and further discussion on the lists. A proposal to add back
'make force-tag' was not approved due to lack of consensus (proposal #1).
A second proposal to add back TAG_OPTS=-F was approved (proposal #2). Dennis
Gilmore will add TAG_OPTS back to the makefile.
** Proposal #1
*** For: j-rod, nirik, jwb, jds2001
*** Against: dgilmore
*** Absent: dwmw2, kick_, notting, bpepple
** Proposal #2
*** For: j-rod, nirik, jwb, jds2001, dgilmore (majority vote of FESCo)
*** Absent: dwmw2, kick_, notting, bpepple
=== Codina ===
* There was a brief discussion on what the status of Codina was. FESCo would
like to find out what the plan for Codina is and will revisit this next week.
