pm-utils: why not noarch?
by Michel Salim
The latest version of pm-utils have a bug in which
%{_libdir}/pm-utils/bin/pm-action, line 86, refers to:
. /usr/lib/pm-utils/functions
whereas the file is located in /usr/lib64 on x86_64 and other 64-bit platforms.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=233404
Would it not be better to make pm-utils noarch, and put its files in
/usr/lib ? Or at least, use relative paths when loading other pm-utils
files.
Thanks,

You're right; it's not a lot of code. I'll see what I can do with it.

Hi Guys,
Apologize for not actively working on this project. I developed this tool as a part of my interest & i thought there is a really need for system-config-control. I tried to get this package included in Core during FC5, but i didn't get enough responses from people who actually wants to see this package in Fedora. So, the proposal is disapproved. Still i would like to have this package in Fedora Extras, but lack of time doesn't allow me to work continuously on this project as my field of work is different than software development.
I will be really happy if somebody, who continuously work on package development, contribute to this package. By looking at the public demands, i think this package should be maintaned. Please let me know whoever is interested, i will give all the details which i have for system-cofnig-control.
Thanks a lot & let me know if i can help in any way other than maintaining this package! :)

missing FC6 system-config-control

I think what you noticed is that the noarch rpm from Fedora Extras:
system-config-control is in FC5 Extras, but is gone from FC6 Extras and
rawhide.
Even my FC5 install that I "upgrade" installed to FC6, lost it.

Improvement to rescue mode?
by Neal Becker
I have found on a number of occasions that I wanted to use a rescue cd to
boot an installation, where the grub install was broken. It would be
really helpful if the fedora rescue mode would allow this.

Xen kernel loads audio driver but misses pcm bits
by Dennis Jacobfeuerborn
Hi,
I have trouble with Xen and my M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 card (ice1712
based). When I boot with a regular kernel everything work fine but when I
boot the Xen kernel the modules get loaded but the pcm mixer seems to be
missing. Running system-config-soundcard yields the following scsrun.log:
ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1357:(_snd_pcm_hw_open) Invalid value for card
aplay: main:550: audio open error: No such device
cat: /etc/asound.conf: No such file or directory
amixer: Mixer attach default error: No such device
Running from command-line...
I filed a bug here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=196045
(actually I filed that bug 9 months ago but the problem still exists)

Dennis

Please don't BR: "perl-*"

Kernel BUG caused by iwlwifi
by Richard Hughes
Not sure what to do here - normally I wouldn't dare report
out-of-vanilla modules for BUG'ing, but this one is being included in
rawhide and stops the boot process dead.
Worth filing a RH bugzilla or a kernel bugzilla? This is with latest
rawhide.
Thanks,
Richard.

Google Summer of Code Project
by Akshay Dua
Hello,
I contacted Patrick Barnes about the following Google Summer of
Code
project on the Fedora site,
System G-Conf (or other configuration) backend
He wanted me to find out if there was any interest among fedora
developers in the above topic. If so, then do let me know, and
also feel
free to volunteer as a mentor for this project :->
Thank you,
Akshay Dua
