Hi,
Is Glade3 available on Fedora7. I saw it has been stable for long time
now and I found no package with name Glade3.
Is there no Glade3 in Fedora7 and if it isn't why is it so ?

KDE-SIG weekly report (45/2007)

topics that were discussed. If you want to add a comment please reply

= Agenda =
* Introduce new KDE-SIG-Members
* Nodoka-Theme for KDE (Thread on fedora-art-list)
* Changing the wallpaper every hour - infinity-24 (complete)
* Planned early updates for F8
* The weekly talk about KDE4 (status of kdebase-workspace and so on)
= Summary =
o Nodoka-Theme for KDE:
- LaithJuwaidah has adapted Nodoka-Metacity-Theme to dekorator
- We will probably need to port dekorator to KDE4 (because it's maintainer
seems to stop working on it)
- Another option would be to use native port for kwin4
- A third option would be to use the code of polyester (it's looking is fairly
close the same and is available for KDE3 and KDE4)
- It's still undecided in which package it should be put
- The theme would only be available as an optional update and not set as
default in Fedora 8
o Changing the wallpaper every hour:
- LaithJuwaidah has written a perl script to change the wallpaper every hour
(like Gnome does now with Infinity wallpaper)
- using this script with kdewebdesktop would be prefered over an usage in cron
o supposed early updates for F8:
- KDE 3.95.0 development platform
- There are also some minor updates in kde-settings and
fedorainfinity-kdm-theme
- kdegames4 as an replacement for kdegames(3) would only be an option if sound
is working
o The weekly talk about KDE4:
- kdelibs4 for KDE 3.95.0 is already done, kdepimlibs will follow
- kdebase-runtime will be included into existing kdebase4
- We will need reviews for the splitting of KDE4's kdebase package

Would it be cleaner to use the %{rhel} macro for this test? Or isn't
that available outside of the build system?
# Compat for RHEL3 build
%if 0%{?rhel}>= 3
# python-devel doesn't seem to Require: python in RHEL3
BuildRequires: python
# override sitelib because this messes up on x86_64
%define python_sitelib %{_exec_prefix}/lib/python2.2/site-packages/
%endif

95% of the user-reported problems with evdev are due to the user
switching himself and failing to do it properly (because switching to
evdev requires setting an awful lot of xorg parameters to "evdev", and
if you forget to change one xorg won't fail cleanly but work in a
strange hybrid buggy PS/2+evdev input mode, and users will assume this
buggy mode is evdev itself).
Just switching to evdev can fix an awful lot of multimedia key problem
reports.

KDM is derived from XDM and the current KDE packages share some files with XDM
instead of duplicating them, so KDE will need changes if you remove XDM. (This
is also why there's currently no KDE updates from kde-redhat for EL5. I'd
suggest just rebuilding the FC6 xorg-x11-xdm for EL5 in kde-redhat, it would be
the easiest way to solve this problem.)

Infinity theme for gdm removed from Fedora?
by Marcin Zajączkowski
Hi,
In Fedora 8 Test3 the default theme for gdm (login screen) is Infinity.
One of the available updates removes it completely (after restart there
is an error message about missing files and in fact those files are
missing).
Was it intended to remove that theme?
Regards
Marcin
