The version of memtest86 included on the Fedora installer CDs as a boot
option is 1.55 while the newest memtest86 is now at version 3.2
Is there a non-obvious reason why FC would include such an old version?

Reorganization of src.rpm: not arch agnostic

Hi Jesse,
while putting together these src.rpms under one folder was a good
thing, it uncovers an issue with conditional and macro-dependent
BuildRequires, i.e. they become static and reveal the arch in nasty
ways.
For instance the current gcc src.rpm as it will be shipped with FC5
will only install (aka extract) on x86_64 systems. Other archs will
need to use --nodeps.
Not something one can really fix, not even really work around it in a
clean fashion, but I'd rather give a heads-up to such ugly beasts. :/

Kernel have problems with several devices...

Hello,
Latest kernel (kernel-2.6.15-1.2095_FC5) and others since 2009_FC5 have
problems in identifying devices when box have ASUS P4S800-MX SE motherboard.

Besides that, RAID1 is causing catastrophic faillure (system locks
without even logging status) on these boards, when using 2 SATA HD
configured with RAID1. The same happens with linear and RAID0 (ext3
filesystem).
Perhaps it would be good to test boxes with the ASUS P4S800-MX SE.

2GB swap partition limit?

Hi,
I didn't notice this earlier. On Feb. 11th, I completely reinstalled Fedora Core
on my Itanium workstation using the FTP method. All ran flawlessly and, by
contrast to my first attempt, the anaconda graphical screens were correctly
displayed.
My workstation has been upgraded to 6GB RAM. I let anaconda automatically manage
the partitions on the disk. It created a 4GB swap partition in a LVM volume.
But top, free and gnome-system-monitor all report that my swap space is 2GB
(more precisely, 1.9GB). IIRC, there was a 2GB limit partition for the swap
size in the past, but I thought this has been overcame.
Isn't it the case?

(more than see) the irresistible urge to run away from all such complexity,

Some Solaris boxen had to have swap > RAM, or it wouldn't be of any use, so
2x RAM was a reasonable compromise.
