I tried to use cobbler with my Ubuntu machine as a host. I had to
make
several adjustments to the packaging/code to get it to work properly.
Currently I have made them into (small) patches, which I want to
submit for review, if applicable. If several small changes could be
made in the cobbler source tree, the result would be that cobbler
could work on even more distributions without much hassle. Therefore I
have a few questions:
* Is somebody currently working on getting cobbler to work on
Debian(-based) and/or other distributions? If yes, who is it and how
can I contact him/her/them?
* Is cross-distribution functionality something that is on the wishlist?
A few different people were working on it during cobbler pre-2.0. The
various patches were never in a fully working "complete" state. The
original cobbler author didn't want to ship a 1/2 working and 1/2
broken feature so support was pulled. However, he always wanted
working Debian and Ubuntu support. If you get it working by all means
post the patches to this list for review.
