[PATCH] import modules
by James Cammarata
Tested against Fedora {11..14}-{i386,x86_64} so far, one minor issue
but it was in F11 so I doubt anyone would notice. Just merged master
into my feature branch (import-modules) on github so if anyone wants
to help test imports feel free.
https://github.com/jimi1283/cobbler/commit/3df2746ef3d3f6e9146d0a8c8c1352...
This seems to be getting pretty solid, so more help testing would be
appreciated. I'm going to grab some Centos 4 and 5 DVDs next, but
probably just the most recent (4.8/5.5) for both i386/x86_64 and test
those. So, if anyone has old Centos or any RHEL versions (I don't
have the RHEL isos at home where I do devel), that's where I'm looking
for testing help.
Once I get Centos tested, I'll start working on fixing VMware (ESX and
ESXi) support, and I'll start looking for the Ubuntu stuff too.
Enjoy!

New templating language and support for EL4
by Scott Henson
I'm considering a move off of Cheetah as the templating language for
Cobbler. I am personally leaning towards django or jinja(1 or 2
depending on the EL4 discussion). I would like to know opinions people
have on if we should move and what we should move to.
Additionally, I'm considering if we should continue to explicitly
support EL4 for running Cobbler on. This would be due to the fact that
many of the really nice templating languages are just not supported on
the version of python that EL4 runs. We would continue to support
running koan on EL4 (in fact I think we will still run all the way back
to AS2.1). Are there people that are still running Cobbler on EL4?
Thanks.

Hello from Ubuntu land
by Clint Byrum
I just wanted to introduce myself, and let you, the cobbler development
community, know whats going on with Cobbler in Ubuntu.
We've decided to get Cobbler into shape for packaging in Ubuntu 11.04
(Natty Narwhal), and we'll be working on submitting patches so Cobbler
can deploy Ubuntu Server smoothly. This should also improve the
situation for Debian as well.
Our immediate goal is to get the development version deploying both
fedora and ubuntu from ubuntu and fedora.
I've submitted a few minor tickets (616 and 617) with patches to get the
ball rolling, and we'll probably be submitting a few more as we work on
it.
Here is what we're working on now:
* Getting it working and packaged on Ubuntu w/ the current feature set
* Policy compliance for packaging in Ubuntu (licensing, FHS, etc)
* Importing Ubuntu ISO's and Repositories
* PXE Booting Ubuntu machines
* Installing Ubuntu w/ preseeds

Cheetah recently broke on F14 and has had various and other problems
with its security. It has generally just been a pain in my back side
for some time. I'm not saying I'm going to make a change, just trying
to get a general feeling on the subject at this place.
