Hello - welcome to the show :)
1. Whenever I try to use up2date, I get the error that this system
may
not be updated until it is associated with a channel.
Seems you already did the first step to use a channel. This prevents
up2date from working on Fedora Core.
2. How do I associate it with a channel?
up2date does not need any association, it even will break up2date from
working.
3. Thank you for any help you can provide.
Use an editor and - as root - edit the /etc/sysconfig/rhn/source file.
Find the line "#up2date default" and be sure there is a "#" in front
of
the text. On
http://www.fedoranews.org/contributors/alexander_dalloz/mirror
you find an article with some information on how to configure up2date to
use mirror servers.
