I wanted to try this to, but never found the time. Thanks
I just wanted to remind you that if you use the command
system-config-printer and change something on whatever printer and then
do the apply button, the option timeout disappears from
/etc/cups/lpoptions.
Because there is no option in the GUI for timeout, I think
Good luck
And
Alla prossima volta

Put the option -o timeout=10000 in /etc/cups/lpoptions
Or in the command lp -o timeout=10000 -d yourprinter
My experience is that cups waits for 500 sec before to put the printer
off-line
I have put the option:
Timeout 0
into /etc/cups/cupsd.conf and it seems that cups never put the printers
turned off to state "disabled".
Many thanks!
