After reading about the recent problems of Mandrake and LG CD-Rom drives (http://www.mandrakelinux.com/en/lgerrata.php3), I was wondering if anyone knows if Fedora was/is/could be affected by the same problem? Or the problem is something specific to things Mandrake add to the kernel?

Had been discussed here (or on the fedora-test-list) some days ago (you might want to search the archives). If I remember correctly Fedora is not affected.

Yes, it's a specific patch that Mandrake added to their kernel that triggered the hardware issue; that patch is not included in Fedora.
